There's a G5 that I can purchase for £50 although I was expecting a more up to date version.

This one has a single core 1.8GHz CPU with a 512kb cache/600MHz bus and 1.25GB RAM

not worth it is it really? :(

What do you want to use it for?

Is it a PowerMac or an iMac? Either way, that's a good price if you just want something to mess around with.

If it works buy it, it's easily worth that. When you decide you want something that isn't dog-slow then you'll profit on that without any problems at all.

If you have a specific use for it then go for it but remember that the value has dropped out of the non Intel Macs since Snow Leopard. Resale value will be minuscule.

It's the Power Mac G5 with obviously the IBM CPU.

I was expecting it to be one of the Xeon based Dual CPU's so I'm a little disappointed.

I have no immediate need for it and I already have a mac book which i already faster. Just wanted to play around with the hardware side of a mac tower

At the end of the day, they're still working computers that run Leopard. Hardly junk unless you truly need a fast computer :)

The three most recent ones on eBay with that spec went for £280, £320 and £248 respectively. It was a bargain, I'd pay that just for the case.

Instant profit mate.

Reminds me, I must put mine up - been meaning to sell it for nearly 2 years now :o
