G5 problem

Since the old mouse has broken, we've been using my brothers G5 mouse. It works to some degree when connected via USB to this old Windows ME machine. However, the left click is not entirely reliable in games (well, Q3 online), it fails about 1 in 20 times and this did not happen with the old mouse. It doesn't seem like a hardware problem, it's pretty new and well looked after. I have tried to install drivers to correct this, but they won't install properly. I get this error message:

Does anybody know how we can fix this annoying problem? Thanks

I didn't at first, but this one definately is. When I accidently used the XP ones, they wouldn't get as far as beginning installation. This message appears at the end.

There wern't any, we were just running plug and play style (which I thought would be fine anyhow). When I just checked for the drivers I attempted to install yesterday, I found it had created the folders but they were empty so clearly nothing has been installed at all. This is very annoying, it just will not install them

Ah, well I have fixed the old mouse. It now has the middle button from our old mouse for it's left click (figured that one had been used least). But still, I don't understand why the G5 wouldn't install
