g80 release date

Am I better waiting for those cards or buying the 7900 GTO. I think those DX10 cards will be sort of unstable with the drivers and damn expensive, so maybe its better waiting for the 2nd or 3rd line? not sure.

cant see nvidia releasing a duff card that would finish them

Im talking about the drivers. Besides for the G80 cards your better building a whole new system, a DX10 Vista system.

yeah just think of it, some idiot pairing G80 or R600 with a celeron D, the CPU would be huge bottleneck, depending on performance C2D might flourish in this next segment, since it was exclusively held back by graphics bottleneck, time to sit back and see just how strong intels latest offering is :p

True, thats why I'd probly build a new comp for DX10 in the later stages.

I'd still wait til the 8th anyway just to see what the g80's release does to the price of all the other high performance cards on the market!

Damn i want an x1950! :D

gt

Could be at least £500 as there aint going to be that many, so expect to pay a premium, Gibbo said they probably only going to get about 200 of em, so £500 smackers it will probably be. :D

I wouldnt even bother getting a G80 on release, £500+ no way, just wait the 3 - 4 months until DX10 is finally released as the G80's will be about £200 then, £500+ is way to much for a DX9 card, and before you say it dont, as we all know it wont be a DX10 card for about 4 months, as you have to wait for DX10 to be released, which is Vista, and also around then, i bet the refresher comes out to as 4 months is a long time in graphics cards. :D :D

I have to agree, most of you already have decent cards that will play anything, personally I wont be upgrading my graphics card untill its worth it i.e DX10 games on the market, cheaper prices - graphics cards loose too much value as it is without paying a premium to say "hey I've got one before anyone else" lol.

Then again selling your topend cards now means you recuperate more cost anyway, but well I'm going to wait! :)

Yeah they are going to be paying about £500+ for a few more frames in DX9 thats all, as DX10 can not be used for months, as its not getting released till about Jan/Feb, by which time G80 will be about £200, and the faster refreshed cards will be coming to as said. :D

I can't wait for the new 2D/3D clock speeds threads, aka 'My G80 arrived today, but windows is reporting it as DX9 WTF, supposed to be DX10', yes afraid thats right, DX10 hasn't been released yet, wont be for months. :D :D

If you want a faster DX9 card, then heres a tip, get yourself a GX2, x1900, 7900 GTX etc... then get a G80 when DX10 is released for about £200, don't pay £500+.

There is no way that the G80 will be 200 quid in a few months.
Thats BS and you know it.
It took months and months for the x1900XT to drop to around 250 and thats an old card now.

So why will G80 drop below the price of a x1900 in such a short space of time?

If anything it will hold its value longer as its a DX10 card.

Once released the DX9 cards will drop in price thats the nature of Hardware.

The 7900 GTX was 400 -450 on release so paying top dollar for a new gen GFX card is nothing new.

Your post's loadsamoney just repeat the same again and again about this subject.

People are not buying the cards for the DX 10 features. They are buying the cards cause its the next Gen card.Regardless of what features it has.

They are buying the card as it will be the fastest card in production.

I think its more of a waste of money now buying a GX2 for £350 as you put it.

"If you want a faster DX9 card, then heres a tip, get yourself a GX2, x1900, 7900 GTX etc..."

when as soon as G80 is released they will plummit in price.

Whats the point of spending £350 now on a GX2 DX 9 card?

When for 100 quid more you can have a faster DX 10 that will hold its value for longer.

It will be easier to shift a G80 on in a few months when the second gen cards appear than it will a GX2 for example.

Do you think people will buy GX2's for 300 odd second hand when DX 10 is released?

No.

False economy.

I stopped reading there, if the rest of the post was anything like it then all I have to say is LOL.

They have stopped making them!
They are no longer in production!

No more laughable than saying the G80 will be 200 quid in a couple of months lol.

Any DX 9 card will be seen as old when DX 10 Hits that was my point.
