--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually none of the games listed are DX10.0. They are all DX9.0c where SM3.0 are barely explored. It's big misunderstanding here. The game might require DirectSound component of DX10.0 for example, but it doesn't mean it's DX10.0 game. The bottom line is that there will be no visual difference running any of these games using DX9.0c vs DX10.0 card...but only in performance... :D :o

Why don't people get it?

The DX 10 bit is not important.

Its a new gen card that pulls 12k in 06 on its own!

Never mind when overclocked..

No Xfire,No SLI

On its own.

for £500

Plus it will have DX 10 features lol :o :D

Your priceless

So you advocate spending 600 quid on Xfire x1950

When DX 10 games are about you will not run them with DX 10 features?

LOL

I guess you have forgoten about R600?

LOL :D
no i never said i advocate spending 610 which is to expensive x1950 can be had for much less, but i dont advcate spending £500 on a dx 10 card when you cant use dx10 , esp, when a single dx9 card will cut through every game just now no problem ! for half of what the g80 will cost !

tbh i thought i did see a few differances , the jungle shots in the video looked like there was more going on , and i thought that the part with the robot looked like there was more explosions and smoke effects , but thats just me
guys i am not against the g80 far from it , dx10 will be worth it in the future , i just did see the sence in rushing out to upgrade to a g80 for £500 just to play dx9 games faster when a single x1900xt should be good for a while yet , and in a few weeks the g80 wil come down in price , esp if ati surprise everyone and release the r600 before xmas ,
think about it nvidia has had to develop a whole new core and chip , where as ati is modifin the xbox 360 xeon gpu for the r600 , so i would bet that ati has the r600 about ready to go ? but prob think whats the point till at least vista is here
i do hope i havent rattled any cages with my posts , just my opinion , :p ;) :D

Look at it this way.

If the G80 wasn't DX 10 and it was just another next Gen gfx card would all this fuss be made?

Would people be saying dont get it cause its £500?

I dont think so
i wouldnt pay £500 for any single card , it bloddy outrageous , its ok saying its only 130 more than a gx2 , fine but you still have to shell out 370 for the gx2 , and unless you have evga step up program you will have to sell the gx2 at a loss before buying g80 lol

LoadsaMoney said:
Its only £500 as its DX10 though, i bet if it was just another refreshed DX9 card it would'nt be £500, all your paying for DX10.
agreed because it is the first dx10 capable card nvidia has slapped a hefty premeum on it , had is holding back stock , i mean really how many performance heads acount for the whole of gfx sales ? about 1 or 2 % , nvidia could easily have enough g80 out for demand , if they wanted , it is hardly going to be like the demand for the ps3 is it ;)

look i would be the first to admit if the g80 was say £350 yes i would get it over any other card , as it will be the fastest single card out there and i havnt got a gfx card yet for my comp , hell i might get a cheap pci card just now to see what happens to the g80 price after it has been out a few weeks

Rubbish,

You're not, you are paying for a next Gen card.

The 7900 GTX where 499 on this very site on release as it was a new gen card.

If it pulls 12k at stock in 06 then its good value as thats around 100 quid cheaper than two GTX's amd you only use one GFX slot :D

Cheaper too than two X1950 in xfire aswell
and how long did it take for the 7900 gtx to drop in price?

What has buying a GX2 got to do with anything?

Looking at it that way the GX2 for 380 or the G80 for 500 its a no brainer
because a lot of people on here has stated that the g80 is ONLY 130 more than the gx2

easyrider said:
All the poeple on here who will be getting the G80 are not getting it for the DX10 features.

Just for the speed and the heck of it lol.

TBH if I didnt have the step up program to turn to I'd probably have a play with with two X1950 pros in Xfire lol :D
is there any sign of a bench of the gecube 1950 pros?

Cue Loadsa and Rippling - "Reports show ATI > Nvidia"
new hardware always has problems , just another reason not to waste £500 on day of release , contain yourselves guys! wait and see what happens !

rippling said:
eh? did i mention ati? no , dont know why you think i am ati fan boy i have a NVIDIA card just now! god!
both comanies are know for releasing unfinished or borked hardware promising something that it just cant do , i got a 6800gt because of the hardware encoding and decoding , to find after i bought the 6800 gt (on day of releae) that the bloody card cant do it!
Nvidia is worse than ati ......at certain things , ati are worse on others!

I must admit that is a little annoying, surely there will be hacked versions of the drivers that will allow you to use the old CP, do you recon ?
it is a shame you have to use hacked drivers at all though isnt it

its all about moving on guys , or so the graphics card companies would have you believe ,
dont know why they changed the first CP there was nothing wrong with it , but the new one looks very pretty , nice nvidia logo spinning with jaggies till you up the aa !
