Hey guys could those of you with GTS/GTX tell me what type of performance you get on CoJ in general gameplay on single player, preferebly run with 4xAA and 16xAF with shadows disabled (Im getting the dreaded shadow bug) everything else maxed with 2048 maps. I just want to compare to my 2900XT and there are not many benchmarks on the web (there all DX10) :) . Cheers.

I just this min finished this game. Had everything @ Full running on my X1900XT on 1680x1050.. ran ok but when you're out in open and theres lots of grass ** fps goes to like 20 and u get pwnt but it's fine. D:

I was playing at 1440x900 all max including shadows, no aa/af in cp, most places around 25-60fps I got but in the town it went down to 20, same for looking in trees.

I run it at 1280x1024 4xAA and 16xAF and everything else maxed with shadows on and its very smooth 50-60fps average.

I used to have the shadow bug but that was solved recently in the nvidia drivers so now it looks sweet with them on

* Two Gameplay Styles:
* Play as Billy: Using discretion to escape the men who seek you. In case of difficulty, use your whip to hit, knock out and disarm adversaries, or simply climb surfaces or grab objects out of reach.
* Play as Ray: Let brute force do the talking - an excellent horseback rider, Ray is also a master of pistol and rifle, and can carry heavy objects to smash down the doors that stand in his way.
* Multiplayer: 18 maps, 5 multiplayer modes and 4 playable character classes. Take part in a thrilling multiplayer experience that includes showdowns in the middle of the town and bank robberies!
* New Single-Player Modes (Xbox 360 Exclusive): 3 new levels playing as Billy - no sneaking and hiding, but in full gunslinger mode!
* Graphical & Technical Boost (Xbox 360 Exclusive): HDR textures, more realistic lighting on vegetation, better FX rendering and solid frame rate (40 FPS vs 20 FPS on PC).
* Enhanced AI (Xbox 360 Exclusive): A refined AI provides a realistic gameplay experience, with more reactive NPCs. Players encounter enemies with individual skills, who use their environments to their advantage, employ suppressive fire and work together as a group to shoot them down.

360 version looks good.. :O

"(40 FPS vs 20 FPS on PC)."

Shoes what a port it is :\, 20fps is awfull.

I just tried it again, 4xAA/16xAF, all max except for shadows at low, and I would say my average is 30fps, in the town it was like 34fps but kept dipping to 12 just standing there and when I turned around but thats due to my shortage of ram, apparently CoJ was using around 600+mb ram. I guess when I upgrade to C2D I will be able to run this all maxed with 4xAA/AF with an 8800GTS, I seen a review though and even at 1280x1024 the 8800GTS was getting like 30fps, when I get that now and I am only on an athlong 64 3700+ @2.8ghz and 1gb ram

Runs great for me I'm on an ATi 1950 crossfire setup though. I thought the game was made for pc and ported to the xbox not the other way around.

Given the number of ports I have played lately that do not run well I have been pretty pleased with this one, it runs better than STALKER which is also a made for pc game.

CoJ still runs crap for what the graphics are like.

I just tried out the demo and it ran perfectly smooth on my ageing rig with all the settings bumped up at 1680x1050. :p

Bought it straight away after closing the demo. What a game

This game isnt a port over from the 360  Its been out for months for the pc & it ain't even out yet for the 360

I've played through it twice now & never had any issues with it at all...great game !!!

Why is the performance so crap though? I mean its not that good looking over other games tbh and yet it can get laggy.

I reckon its an R80 issue. I never expected it to even do 10fps on my system on full settings yet it never dipped below 20. and my pc is 4 years old

"Is this game an rpg?"

No it is an fps, though it has a strong story element it is linear without any rpg elements.

The bad performance people speak of is likely when in areas heavy with grass and trees. these things seem to affect all games, especially when you have the shadows and dynamic lighting on. The game has to render shadows for all the trees as well as the trees themselves, along with grass and any character models.

This kind of draw on resources is common with a lot of games released in the last year I noticed and presumably to do with the way shadows are rendered in shader model 3.0? I don't know for sure though I not knowledgeable about the technical details. It just does not seem a very efficient process yet.
