I bought this mobo recently in the MM and just got around to OCing my 2500K this afternoon. And what an absolute nightmare.
Tried doing a mild OC to see if it would, considering it had the UEFI bios update.
No matter what I tried to do, every time I saved and exited the bios, the PC would actually shut down and then restart several times before I could get into the bios. Then I find out it has`nt changed anything. After a couple of hours of this crap, I managed to get in the bios long enough to load optimised defaults, before the bios froze.
I can no longer get into windows, as I don`t have a repair disc.
I then went on to the GB website to check the Bios version and have found that U1G, which is installed on my mobo, is in fact for the Z68XP-UD3P board and mine should be U1E.
Now, as I am using a SB chip, can I flash back to an earlier bios and if so which one?
Any and all help greatly appreciated.

There's a way to flash back from uefi to an award BIOS but can't remember now,ill find out for you,you should be able to flash directly to the correct uefi BIOS though, the usual way,Usb stick and qflash

Nice one buddy. Can`t understand how he installed the wrong bios.
Got back into windows, seems it reverted to IDE mode when I loaded optimised defaults.
Also just realised, it`s the Z68XP-UD4 and it should be U1L(UEFI BIOS), so which bios should I be looking to flash back to?

Flash to that one if its uefi, there's more too it to flash to older award BIOS and Idk how you do it,latest propper uefi should be a normal flash

You can ask stasio on here but ill pm him on tweaktown

The BIOS which I used was from either Tweak Town or Gigabyte forums at the time, which showed the BIOS was the same for both boards.

Gigabyte have updated the BIOS pages since I used these.

Sorry for the trouble but I had my i7 2700k at 4.4ghz without issue which was a later CPU.

(Its just the UD4 (Not B3)

Hi Rob.
I have set the multiplier to 44, ram with XMP profile and upped the vcore. Then as soon as I save and exit, the system shuts down and then proceeds to do this several times before I can get into the Bios. And if I am not quick enough to make any changes and save, the bios freezes and I have to go through the same process again. What I don`t understand is why the computer shuts down and restarts, when I press save and exit. Now I know from my Sabretooth, if you have a problem with your OC, like not enough vcore, it restarts(not shut down) and takes you back to the bios.

The board will shutdown restart then shutdown and restart with the overclock, if it fails it will either tell you or the system won't boot at all (worse case)

Have you tried with just a small overclock.

In the For Sale thread you mentioned your board went belly up, could this have damaged any components!

Try without xmp,it will loop if somethings not right esp memory settings

Same result, tried it manually.

The part I don`t get with this bios, is you save and exit and immediatley it shuts down, it does`nt go to Post screen and then attempt to enter windows.
My Sabretooth would never took half a dozen attempts to start up and the only times it failed was due to the OC not having enough vcore. And then it would just reset itself to allow you back into the bios.
I also tried Clocking it at 4.0Ghz and still got the same results.

Right, have it at 4.4Ghz and just going to go back in the Bios and lower the vcore.
Just using realbech v1.1 to test for stability.
Can`t understand why it is working now and I hav`nt done anything differently.
