I have just got back from the t-mobile shop having bought a brand new HTC Desire :D
Problem is, its for my missus
Im a very happy owner of the best phone I have ever had (Nokia n900), but Im feeling a strong case of gadget frustration. I don't want her phone, but having spent the money, Im missing the unboxing and the happy 'look what I've got' new gadget feeling.
Im now browsing the web looking for some bit of shiny new tech to satisfy my craving, anyone else ever feel the same way..

I feel just like this atm. I got my first full time job in September and since then have bought a load of stuff for my PC, an HDTV, a new laptop and a Nexus One. Never been able to afford cool stuff before, now just want to buy loads. Must... resist... must... save.....

Do I ever feel the compulsion to buy a gadget for that 'look what I've got' new gadget feeling?

Not really, I've got pretty much any gadget I've actually wanted and had a use for. The only things I buy now are just upgrades and then I sorta need to justify it (to myself).

Eyeing up a replacement LCD tv for the bedroom. Samsung one in there at the moment about 6 years old and the remote sensor on it packed up 3 years ago. Although I live on my own, I have 3 rooms and 2 tvs :p Sucks having to get up to switch off the tv before I sleep, although I'm used to it now.

Bought a PSP go the other day and some B&W MM1 speakers yesterday :)

The pleasure/novelty of something new only lasts for 50 touches/uses, so talk yourself out of it.
Theres a recession on! :D

Save your pennies for something you really want or need, there will always be something to look forward to, but happiness isnt found in a mobile phone or an empty bank balance.

You might find it in your OH's appreciation ;)

I get that all the time, its upgrade fever!

Dont need anything new but i like parcels arriving, unpacking, re-building the pc with the new item, play with the new phone, put a new bit on the bike etc.

Then i get bored and do it again!

I know many a person who has this upgrade fever, I really tend not to get it very often - I mean I know someone who has upgraded their mac equipment about 7 times whilst I've had my Mac Pro for nearly 4 years now (Not looking at anyone on this forum, AmTechFox...)

It's just a fad - sit back and think if you really need it, if you've got the excess money to spend and you know it will make you happy sure - but not if its just to fill an evening of boredom.
