Gah - problems after Catalyst 6.5 install

Just got Oblivion, so decided to update my Cats from 6.3. (Oblivion is fine btw).

Installed 6.5 (drivers only, I use ATI Tool and ATI Tray Tools), and had some initial problems (like Windows in Safe VGA Mode after reboot). Got that sorted.

Then I had refresh rate problems. Sorted them using ATI Tray Tools's Refresh Lock.

Now I have video (WMP) problems - WMP loads, the video attempts to start, but the screen goes white / black/white striped and the whole PC locks. Have to do a hard reset.

Any ideas?

XP SP2, X1900XT, Cat 6.5, both ATI Services disabled, running single CRT @ 1600x1200 @ 85Hz.

Its to do with ATI Tool and the 6.5s, I had exactly the same problems.

It may be to do with 2D->3D clock switching, I gave up and am using the 6.5s and clocking with the CCC, not a very satisfactory solution

As far as I know, I'm always using 3D clocks, unless the Cat 6.5's forces switching to 2D clocks when using WMP?

They are.

Why don't you have a 2D profile 3D detection works just fine, esp now I have a 105Mhz PCi-E speed

Running in 3D in ATi Tool and starting a video = leads to trouble of the highest level.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. Now using 3D Profile to load my overclock, then put it back to default afterwards.
