Gah - Vista constant disk access on RAID 1 setup - Make it stop!!

As title, just installed Vista from fresh on the following setup for a friend and the HDD is almost constantly thrashing! It's doing my head in, and I am pretty sure will do his too....

Asus P5Q Pro Turbo
Intel E8400 cooled with Titan Fenrir -Awesome btw

XFX GTX260
2x 2GB Kinston HyperX 8500
2x 500gb Samsung F1 in Raid 1
Pioneer DVR217
Corsair HX520
Antec 300

Make the thrashing stop...please

Is it not just indexing? Let it run for 24 hours and see if it settles down?

Leave it to do its thing, and it will settle down.

Let it finish. If it's just been installed then it needs time to build indexes.

Hmmm, installed Office, and after installing, the thrashing is continuous again, and has been for the last 5 minutes!

Grrr, is it going to do this every time something is added to the disk? If so, I need to turn off whatever service is causing this. Would drive you nuts :mad:

Get Quieter Drives

I have 6 WD & even on a fresh installed i can barely hear the indexing & that's with the side off facing me.
Maybe the case is resonating the sound.

My WD 640GB Black Editions in RAID1 are totally silent, even after doing a fresh reboot.

Make sure you've got SP1 and SP2. Each service pack reduced the amount of thrashing that Superfetch does.
