Gah! XFire problems

I bought the components for a new gaming rig recently including an A8R32-MVP and an X1900XT XFire setup, it works fine with XFire disabled but the PC shuts down completely if I try loading up the cards with XFire enabled - i.e. if I run 3DMark06 the PC powers off near the end of the first graphics test :(

Thought this was a PSU issue (550W Akasa) so I ordered the 650W version, fitted it today but same problem

Thoroughly pee'd off with the thing now, the only way I can get it to work without issues is to load up ATiTool, manually set the clocks & voltages and override the fan speeds to 100% on both cards  WTF? Is XFire really this unstable or am I missing something fundamental :wack:

Cards are both Connect3D versions from the deal last week, 2GB of OCZ RAM, X2 4400+.

Please help if you can! :)

Just to check things over.

Your using Bios 0311 although the earlier one only resolved stuttering in games and a few other ram issues.

You put the Mastercard in the Blue slot

Slave in black slot.

If you havent already, you should be running Catalyst 6.3 and enable crossfire in CCC (looks like you already did this)

Your PSU should give atleast 36 on the 12V ideal is 38 (dual or single rail)

Have you tried each card independantly.

Also noticed your on dual core, have you applied the patches for this (not that i know what they are)
