I'm running defraggler at present and it appears to have freed approx 20 to 30GB of drive space on a 160 GB drive???

I'm having other issues as well with my rig so took out a memory module (was 4Gb now 2GB) and I noticed the graphic for the page file reduced significantly. Would this account for the 20 to 30 GB though?

It wouldn't account for that difference, if you have pagefile automatically adjusted by Windows it will use a multiple of the RAM size to allocate as swap file - reducing memory will therefore reduce the size of that file. Two points - it's better to set a fixed size of Page File yourself rather than let Windows adjust it, and even better if you have a second disk where you can place it rather than the Windows OS disk.

Defragging should not have freed up that much space, you get some improvement due to better use of blocks with defragmented files but 20-30GB seems a lot.
