Gaining permission to access a folder

Hi all

I want to copy some files from a hard drive with an old installation of Windows on it. On the new Windows installation, I am told I do not have permission to access the folder. When I click continue to access the folder, I get a progress bar in the address bar, but I'm never able to access the folder and it's contents.

Can anyone tell me how to gain access to this folder and it's contents?

It probably is working but it's changing the permissions on those files. There are quite a few of them so it will take a while.

How long did you wait?

Normally takes some time to change the permissions even if the progress bar gets to the end leave it a while until it opens the folder up.
