I understand. A long day can be tiring and cause certain " effects " ;)

Trust me, I'm not judging dell monitors based on their failure in the pc market.

But before you reply to this tom mate, get a rest first

Hehe, ill try mate, sorry if it came across as if i were snapping at you ;) :) .

I remember when NV brought out the 5800Ultra in responce to the 9700pro, What comes around..................

Good to see another manufacturer enter a 7600GT with an AGP interface, hopefully this will fuel the 8600GT into AGP territory. Has OCUK any visibility as to whether this is going to happen Gibbo?

Hi there

Gainward ask me what they could do to do more numbers with ourselves, I told them what I wanted, they gave it to me and hence now one of the most popular brands in the market we now have at the best prices. :)

You won't find these Gainward cards cheaper elsewhere.

i'm not in the buying market atm but keep up with the topics.

nice job gibbo , hope you keep things like this when it comes to the dx10 cards ;)

also a question , off topic . will my setup ( in sig ) be good enough for a dx10 card ?

Ive got an Sd3700 and 2 gig of Geil.
The 8800 series take away some of the tasks previously left to the CPU meaning that the speed of your processer shouldnt be as influential as with DX9 cards, Toms hardware guide proved as much and although a C2D setup is faster than a comparable A64 setup, the difference in games is less and less as you increase the resolution and amount of AA/AF.
However, some games are very CPU dependant, LOMAC at 1600x1200 max settings plays with the same FPS on my machine at 2xAA/2xAF and 4xAA/16xAF.
DX10 and Vista is a different matter as Vista needs 2 Gig of mem of games suffer, or so have read on these pages.

Putting price aside. If you were the one buying a new monitor, out of these 4 brands, which one would you buy? And why?

- Samsung
- ViewSonic
- BenQ
- Belinea
Having bought my only LCD to date a Viewsonic VP191b which I am still using since Aug 05, I am really pleased with it. I am now waiting for the released of the VX2435wm 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black from Viewsonic, I've had a reply from the Viewsonic Rep stating that end of March to beginning of April for release in the UK, there is also a 28" version on its way too - I hope OcUK will stock the 24" as I will definitly want to purchase one.

Hi Ulfhedjinn

In 15 minutes the BFG cards will drop in price, you have until 5pm to place your order. :)
Reduced them both by approx £10-£15+VAT so close to your £20.
LOL I didnt even realised Gibbo had reduced the price, I placed my order for a BFG 8800 GTX at around 4:15pm! thats a nice bonus! :) I was abit too late with the saturday delivery so need a refund for the difference on saturday delivery! :( lol

I Have been reading these forums regularly for the past few months and I have found them to be very enlightening, always given insight into the lastest tech. :)

I am very keen on pruchasing the Gainward 8800 GTS but I have one question for the forum members.
Has anyone else realised that the Gainward 8800 GTS features 1.1ns memory, whereas all the other brands of the GTS feature 1.2ns memory. The 1.1ns memory is also used on all GTX's.
Would the Gainward GTS be slightly better performing with the faster memory being used.
Can anyone answer my question?

It won't perform better at stock, but its memory should overclock higher. :)

Hi there

I have a question about the different 8800 GTS's that are available, and seeing as I'm going to be buying my PC here from OC next Wednesday, I want to make sure I get the best one really for what I need it for...

I'm mainly using my PC for music producion, using Cubase software etc... But I also want to play games such as Flight Simulator - X and Company Of Heroes...

Which Graphics Card out of these four would be best suited for what I need it for?

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI

Gainward BLISS GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI

Leadtek GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI

OcUK GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI

Is it worth paying the extra for the BFG or will any of the above do?

And I'm not going to be purchusing Vista just yet, I'm going to buy XP Pro but I'm confused as to whether I should get the 64Bit version... I may as well seeing as I'm going to be buying a 64Bit CPU but I'm worried that there won't be any drivers available for the above graphics cards or any other software I want to use...

Anyway, thank you in advance for the help! Sorry to ask so many questions

Kind regards,
-Rob.

Can you tell from the pic's which card OCUK badges as it's own? If you can that may help decision making.....

Hi there

Our current stock of the 8800 GTX is Point of View. Same for the GTS! :)

I'm prob gonna go for the Gainward BLISS GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB as it's quite cheap (Not sure how long its gonna stay like that though!) and seeing as I don't have huge amounts of cash to spend, seems like the logical choice...

Anybody know if this card is good for overclocking? Is it a very good card in general..?

Thank you for the time

Kind regards
-Rob.

Would this card be wasted/throttled on the following system specs?

DFI LanParty NF4 Ultra-D
2GB Geil Value PC3200 Dual Channel
Dell 2007WFP
AMD 3500+ Venice
Levicom 550W PSU
Chieftec Dragon Case
Maxtor 120GB Sata
Win XP Home

6800GT currently installed.

The higher the res, the less of a bottleneck.

So come monday these card will go back up I guess. Just got the chance to sell my 7900 GTO today (for a very good price) so this upgrade should not break the bank. A GTX would be nice but it wont fit in my Super Lanboy :(

But looks like I shoud get a nice overclock to GTX speeds (i hope). I have heard the GTX's dont oc as well as the the GTS so bang for buck this is looking like a very tasty option!

Gunna have to buy it soon, tonight or tomorrow. Maybe I should sleep ion it!! :p
