Sounds like the instability gremlins creeping in.What are your temps like.When i used to play on my old pc the temps went throught the roof and kept causing crashing on galciv2.Or do you have any overclock on your cpu or gfx card??

Check out that thread, there's a link to a logging program, as well as an email to send crash logs to, hopefully its a known problem and they'll get back to a fix with you.

Tiss a good game, i am surprised they havent thought to adapt it for ipad and stuff yet

Fantastic game, going to pick it up again now!
I always turn off the research victory, keeping the others on. Winning through diplomacy is a piece of cake though,
makes it too easy.
Just concentrate on research/economics for the first half of the game so you can research all of the diplomatic
items and then use your great diplomacy to trade your money/researched items for more war-oriented pieces.
Buy out a couple of dozen powerful ships and nobody can touch you!

addictive little bugger isn't it
Bought the game in recent steam deal, addicted already. Combat is not a patch on Imperium Galactica II or even Gratuitous Space Battles. Took me 3 days to work out how to expand starbases by sending Constructors to the bases. Playing campaign at moment with each mission lasting at least 8 hours!!! Still, highly addictive.
