Galaxy note - is it worth getting now?

been offered one from a mate for 200, boxed with all the bits, hes gone note 2.
I have an S2 which I can sell for around 180, so its basically 20 pounds to upgrade all in all.
Is it worth getting though? I mean, I really want something bigger than my S2, but Im worried itll feel sluggish and basically be out of date in 6 months.
Do you think its worth it? I'd prefer 5inch+ hence note. S3 doesn't interest me, plus reports of processor deteriation worry me.

I'd look at rooting it too, so i could put a rom on if need be, but if i remember right jelly beans due out in december for it?

Im really stuck in what to do, i have already commited to buy the phone, the note, for 200. the nexus 4 is 280 for the 16gb but stock levels are nuts. is it that much better than the note? hell, I may just get the note, keep it for a while and get a nexus 4 after christmas, decide which i prefer. Im never constantly updating to latest droid anyway. hell, im using stock rom on my s2 and only rooted. but ill whap on another rom to the note id say. decisions, decisions.

For the money they are a great buy! lots off mods in the modding scene go for it.

The nexus looks nice but non expandable storage would kill it for me

. 200 is a decent price for a note, I've got note and it doesnt feel sluggish at all!! Im on stock rom atm and it runs smooth, JB 4.1.2 is due out soon they say. And obviously if size is what interests you then the note is the phone you want.

The note is much nicer than the S2. However, mine is really starting to frustrate me and I think to maintain a decent level of smoothness a new rom is the order of the day. My phone was better before it had the stock Android 4.0 update. But either way, it's far nicer than the S2 and well worth a punt.

yeah im gonna go note 2 way soon....was "lucky" enough to "not" get a nexus 4 on release day as in the thread people who now have them seem to be picky about it, poor sound, washed out colours, battery life is no good, camera no better than previous owned phones etc. I'm thinking if youre gonna upgrade....UPGRADE. Note II has it all , massive screen, battery, power enough features to satisfy the upgrade urge. The thread there also confirms it. Everyone who owns one is smitten. Cant argue with mob wisdom. And in your case the Note 1 is still a good call too!

I made the switch from the S2 to the Note, saw a cracking deal on the rainforest, cost me 60 to upgrade.

Glad I did, running Ultimate N7000 V4 jellybean rom atm and its great. It even has the Air-view and Multiwindow features of the Note 2.

Also liking the extra screen estate it has, I use mine for browsing, reading books, playing games on even with a ps3 controller and watching shows/films.

For the sake of ~20 I'd go for it.

Well it cost an extra 40 in the end, got a local sale of my phone for less than posting it, but it was less hassle so. got 160 for mine and the note for 200

it was literally mint. got it home, put on the latest jelly bean rom for it. not sure what the exact rom title is, I think it is the official 4.1.2 leaked rom. (most up to date, the only reason I went for it, plus 50gb free dropbox storage for installing the rom, BONUS!)
Love it. really is faster and better for me. Now to find some apps that utilize the S Pen.

One thing I have noticed, is Chrome stops responding whenever I try to type anything in (just locks, have to exit, could be the rom I guess) but its blindingly quick for the New OS, and that 2 apps on 1 screen and popup browsers brilliant!
