Galaxy S Internet problem

Just wondering if anyone has a problem with their phones internet. It works absolutely fine via wireless, but doesnt at all otherwise. I took some settings from the websites, downloaded them via the phone, and tried entering manually the ones O2 sent me, but no joy either way.
Someone tell me I'm missing something obvious that I need to enable to get it working

My housemate has the same problem - the phone won't connect to data at all, but is fine on wireless. He's also on O2 iirc.

When I rang em all the did was send me settings and tell me the network is having problems with interne tin my area. should be fixed in a day or two. But that was a week ago lol.

Where are you in the country? Have you been able to get data access on there before? Could this be related to an OTA update?

OTA update? I'm south england and this is my first smart phone, as of 2 weeks ago. So nope, no internet before then

OTA update = Over The Air update. I'm wondering if the data connection has been knocked out by a software patch. I'm fairly sure my housemate had data until recently.

Dont spose an OS / firmware or whatever update would help? I'm still using all the out of the box setup plus a few new apps.

I would give it a go; I believe there's an update to Android 2.2 which I guess could fix it.

Hmm some of those threads had some ideas I tried out, but no joy. Thnx for the links though! Now I know how to see the network connection status too lol. The Mobile NEtwork Status goes from connecting on reset to disconnected.

My housemate went into o2 today and got given the apn settings to set up the data connection again. So far it seems to be working which is great.

Hmm, the settings were sent via email to me and I added em all fine. But they may be different. Any chance your housemate could share them with me?
