Galaxy S3 or htc one X

Yeah what are all these faults that remain with the X? I thought most of the faults had been fixed/improved with new updates and batches etc.?

Only thing that I am aware, which the majority of people are experiencing is the battery life being poor (supposedly the latest update has improved it though)

I know this is a bad idea, but my iPhone 3GS feels and looks old and I'm fed up with IOS operating system , compared to the wife's Desire and new htc one S.

After a quick calculation I can afford £33 contract for the SGS3 but is it worth the extra £4 over a one X?

I've done a quick scan of this forum page and both seem to have problems, not in a hurry to get either (just yet), as the price will probably come down when (or if) the iPhone 5 is announced.

I would have gone for a S but I don't think I could live with "just" 16GB

hey...

that's been my prob before i totally bought my new phone, Samsung Galaxy SIII on Lazada...actually before bought it i read lots of reviews about HTC one X and SIII to get some ideas which one is good purchase...i think you must also read it to give you insight on each phones.see here to read

Little, niggling, irritating, heart-splitting ones. I loved the One X, it felt solid like my 4S, but it had to go. I've got an SGS3 and loving it now.

The battery life was poor, though that's being worked on in software now.

For me, the main issue was the radio performance. The SGS3 drops into Emergency Call mode in a couple of places around my home, but not often. The One X would be going mental any time I moved. Again, it improved with software, but it wasn't right.

It seemed to get slower every time I used it, too, which I can only assume was all in my head. Still, it chipped away at the varnish enough that it irritated me.

Like I say, it wasn't one big thing that put me off it, but a few little things that on their own wouldn't matter. It doesn't help I'm a bit mental and won't let things go, either :)

The WiFi and screen issues that were around are, as far as I know, all sorted.

Did you not root and flash custom ROMs, tweaks etc. though? Maybe there was a problem with them regarding the phone getting slower.

That is why I don't want to root and flash custom ROMs etc. as you just encounter loads of niggles like that (on my old phone that particular problem happened a lot! Wiping the dalvik cache helped for a bit but the problem came back after a few days, so in the end always just had to do a fresh install from scratch every month) along with battery drain every now and then, GPS not having a fast fix/taking forever/not accurate amongst other stuff niggles.

It was HTC being lazy, Sense 4 wasnt optimized at all for the tegra chip set, non of those problems are on the S4 versions or the one S apart from the signal, they really show have got the software right from the start, the amount of people who the One X and now use a S3 on this forum alone shows how much of a stupid move it was.

I have had extensive playtime with both at work and easily the SGS3. I'm glad I waited a month to get that instead of rushing for the HOX. Biggest points for me are the micro SD slot and a removable battery which was very useful on holiday recently.

I so wanted the one series to be good, well the One S is very good indeed (let down by no sd slot and a must removable battery) , but one X left me wanting and whilst I'm no expert the only thing I think it has over the SGS 3 is that pin sharp screen. Sense and come to think of it touchwiz are rubbish. I think I'm hard to please but I still miss my SGS 2.

I did, but that was to try and fix it.

If google do another nexus Phone what internals would it use?

I would guess along the lines of something similar to the Nexus we have now but with a S4, slightly bigger screen, bigger battery, and no SD card.

However there is rumors of 5 Nexus phones 1 from each big OEMs (Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG, huawei) so we can get 5 phones all with different internals and looks which would be amazing.

ive got both, had them both since launch day, and trust me the one x is a great phone but its not as good as the gs3

it took me 3 one x's to get a decent one (still not perfect thou)

trust me and get a gs3, its defiantly better than the one x

edit to say i had no intention of getting the gs3, that's why i got a one x on launch day, but the day the gs3 come out i was playing with it in a three shop, and i knew id made a mistake, so i gave the one x to the missus and i got a gs3 on the one plan there and then
the battery on the one x is terrible, people who say its not that bad have just got used to it, if you have a good play it will be nearly dead by dinner time (great standby thou) just dont use it much if you want it to last the day

Ive decided on the S3 but hanging on till the iphone 5 comes out, hopefully it will knock the price of the S3 down a bit.

Saw it for around £411 I think on HUKD the other day so its not doing to bad, and yes I recommend at least waiting to see what Nokia and Apple have to offer, I'm also looking to see what new Nexus is coming out as I really want stock google experience.

Now I can give a fair opinion having had both.

The GS3 is my keeper of a huge bunch of different devices.

Reasons...

1) Battery life - much better than the One X, slightly better than the Galaxy Nexus with extended battery infact.

2) Removable battery - Makes a huge difference when your going on trips or to gigs and such.

3) Add additional SD storage - Don't depend on the cloud for everything. Sure way to rinse your battery.

4) Samsung are more responsive to feedback and frequently offer firmware updates.

5) Sound quality - It's like HTC threw Beats branding on their devices to mask the audio short falls. The GS3 is louder, crisper and clearer through quality of the hardware. Not bloody Beats.

6) In call EQ - Having the ability to change EQ settings for audio quality in calls has been useful on a few occasions already. I change this setting depending where ill be i.e a loud pub

In favour of the One X.....

1) Easier to get good quality camera snaps in darker environments. You can get the same desired effect on the GS3 by tinkering with settings, but for an out of the box snapshot I prefer the One X on this one. But hardly a saving grace, take a few shots and see how much battery gets eaten on the One X. It's ridiculous.

2) Tegra games support. If you like THD versions of games, they run out of the box. They do actually as good as or better on the GS3 if you install Chainfire3D to set them up.
