I need your help on deciding which i should go for/keep. I currently have a iPhone 4 (not 4s, same as 4 really) and have done for just short of 1 year, i have no desire in upgrading to the 4s and am now looking at getting a new phone. I know the new iPhone will be out later this year but is it worth waiting for when the S3 is out now?

Can anyone give me some recommendations on the features of the S3 and why i should buy it?

Thanks

In the same situation as you! Aside from the Eco system (Apple being better IMO) the S3 is a far better phone and knowing Apple it unlikely they'll even attempt to compete in a few key areas such as Screen size, Cost, Replaceable battery and memory card. You kind of know it will also be more of the same.

But then we'd be crazy not to at least wait to see what the iPhone 5 will be before committing! On the bright side if we wait the S3 will be cheaper with better contracts :)

Like you I have the iPhone 4 and the 4S still seems pointless.

If youre not eager to swap, just wait a 1-2 months for the new iphone to be announced.

If you want the screen space go for the S3, because the new iphone will definitely not be as big! Think it'll be smaller than the S2 in fact, at 4".

Depends what you want from your phone i guess.

Try one in a shop and see what you think to it.

If you don't like it or think it's worth a swap, wait for the new iPhone that will be out in a few months.

The S3 is definitely better overall from a hardware perspective, no doubt about that. Software is personal preference though.

I got rid of my iPhone 4S and paid only like £40 more for an S3 as I was getting bored of iOS. When the iPhone 5 comes out, we will see cos I can trade in the S3 for that instead if I want to go back to iOS.

Works out perfect for me.

Thanks, going to go look at a S3 tomorrow, getting a bit bored of IOS now plus the screen size on the S3 is good

If the size is a big factor for the change I doubt the new iPhone would go over 4", could always be surprised XD but I very much doubt it.

If you are in no rush to change I would recommend waiting but it could be a few months before we found out what the ip5 or whatever they decide to call will birng to the table.

I'm in a similar quandary only with the RAZR HD potentially coming out soon and also that at some point Verizon are going to force people off their unlimited data plans in order to upgrade. Well, similar albeit I'm upgrading from the original Droid so any new phone is going to be an epic upgrade :p

The 4S makes sense in so many ways, although the lack of LTE is putting me off plus it's kinda old-hat now :p The S3 seems ace but I want to wait for the RAZR HD - once I see what that is offering then I'll make the call between the S3 and HD I suspect.

There's also the Apple WWDC in a few days, it's at least worth waiting for that to see what changes iOS 6 will bring.

As for the whole GS3 vs iP4S argument, well as said before it's best to go try both as the operating systems are very different. You'll tend to find your choice made depending on which of the two suits you best, rather than the specifications on the box.

I'm looking forward to seeing iOS 6! :)

I have had a good go on an 4S and an S3 in the Carphone Warehouse and a friend has the One X.
The question is between the One X and the S3. The 4S has a small screen and a 1ghz dual core CPU. The new phones at 1.4-1.5ghz quad core, a massive bright screen and Android 4 are very good indeed.
I have no idea why people would buy the 4S anymore, it is very much a 2011 model and the Iphone 5 is needed. Die hard fans of Apple will still buy the 4S, but it is priced at the top end of the market for a phone that is no longer good enough to warrant the price.

My Defy is not working properly and I need a new phone, but I will buy outright as I have a very good sim only deal that makes buying the phone work out cheaper overall. I am stuck between the One X and the S3. If the Iphone 5 was out I am sure I'd look at that too.

For the software, the design, the ecosystem and the smaller size. It's not difficult to understand at all. The internal specs for example on the iPhone aren't important (CPU/GPU wise).

I find myself buying an Android phone for the hardware, not the software. iOS is very good but it will get no credit in this particular part of the forum.

After playing with an S3 in the shop, the 4S just felt pathetic and the screen is tiny in comparison. I am not Apple lover nor hater, I just feel that when looking to spend £500 on a phone you have to be picky. The 4S needs replacing as it is a spiced up version of the 2010 iphone. The competition are flagship 2012 phones that wipe the floor with it. I wish the 5 was out sooner so I could consider that too but I need a phone soon.

Yes, it needs updating, and iOS could do with some new stuff too (though there's nothing I desperately want).

Currently though the 4S is fine aside from the screen size. You may like a larger screen (I do too), but many people think the 4.8" phones are ridiculous!

Aside from the screen, the One X and S3 aren't really much better in use.

Personally I feel the One X and S3 are too big, the 4S too small. A 4.2" screen would be quite nice.
