Galaxy s8 led issue

Yeah might be an issue with AQDG

I'm on AQDD and all working OK

Will be annoying if AQDG ruins it

Hmm I'm leaning towards it being the software update then. I take it there is no way to remove it? If not may well just be a case of waiting for a further update
 
I'm on AQDG on my carrier free CPW handset and it works fine, it does on AQDD from chitter chatter which I'm going to return as well so I don't think it's that. Perhaps some apps are messing with it ? Are you sure you haven't got notifications switched off for the selected apps (e-mails, message, battery)? it does ask during the initial setup about it and it's really easy to switch it off.

Thanks. It's defiantly not app related as I did a full factory reset to just the handset as it came from Samsung and still didn't work. That's why I was wondering if it was the aqdg update. I've checked and double checked the settings and all seems good. Could anyone post screenshots of their settings to compare
 
All I can think of is that you might have a dodgy power socket or charger then and it's somehow killing it. I remember having a PSU like that which kept bricking motherboards within few minutes of connection them - I've replaced motherboard 3 times before realising it was the PSU.
 
Yep missed that bit. Not sure on that one. It's a 6 way plug that my old phone was plugged into as well as my iPad and watch and also my works Samsung and no issues there. It is a possibility. Hopefully Samsung should get back to me. The software update seems most likely. Shame there's no way to roll back to confirm either way
 
I received my Samsung yesterday but i haven't noticed an LED issue, mines a Samsung s8 edge +. Are you on about the LED on the top left of the screen that flashes when you receive a missed call or text?
 
I had exactly the same issue;got the phone and set it up,then out of nothing the led stopped working.
I did a full factory reset, and nothing, I tried testing it through the the Samsung service menu and nothing. Downloaded light flow app to test and nothing.
I'm very sad since I rely a lot in the led notification light.
I'm reluctant to believe the led hardware failed, seems to simple, I also believe it to be a software issue. Now that you say that you have had the problem twice I would bet on it.

Anybody else had the same?

Got a third handset yesterday and didn't install the software update and led is working fine. I also bought a new surge protector and swopped plug sockets over at the wall due to someone suggesting that. (Not likely really). I personally think it's the software update That caused the issue. Spoke to Samsung who weren't overall useful. But at present all sorted and working fine. I suspect the next update samsung release the led would have started working again but for now I'm not installing the latest update. Thanks for all your help

You don't need an app to test the LED, all Galaxy phones have a built in service test menu.

Open the dialler:

*#0*#

LED.
