Apparently being announced tomorrow.

https://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-S4-announcement-date_id107190

I've had my Tab S2 for a couple of years and it's a cracking little tablet, but I'll be looking out for an upgrade and the S4 might tick the box. I'm not sure if the 10" screen size will suit me as I tried an iPad Pro and ended up giving it to the wife as I just couldn't get on with it, but that may have been the Apple software more than anything else. I also think the iPad Pro is a bit heavy in the hand, so hopefully Samsung have managed to strike a better balance.

@Kainz yea, I'm ruling it out. It's a bit disappointing as my Tab S2 is running Nougat and that won't be upgraded now. Using it in tandem with my Pixel 2 XL (Android 9) is getting a bit annoying as I'd like a uniform system between devices.

I just got a play with the S4 in Currys and I actually really like it. My interest was also caught by an offer in store saying "extra £50 off when trading in a qualifying tablet". I tried to clarify what I would get for my S2 but the salesperson had a right attitude on, trying to tell me that the price reduction would be £50 for any tablet. :p

I'll maybe try again with a different salesperson tomorrow when they go on sale.

Why? The iPad is better is nearly every way for half the price. The A10 is demonstrably more powerful the S835, the Pencil is far superior to the S-Pen, the battery like on the iPad is better and iOS is better as a tablet OS.
For the record I hate Apple products and iOS but the S4 is simply grossly over priced whichever way you look at it.

I had a look at the cheaper iPad and you can tell right away why it's cheaper. The 10.5" iPad pro is double the price for a reason, and that's where the comparison lies with the Tab S4. As for iOS versus Android, that's subjective... I just boosted my storage with a simple sdcard, you won't do that with any ipad.

I know the S4 has flaws, but trying to compare it with Apple's entry level iPad is going a bit far.

ive just recieved the keyboard cover, really impressed with the whole thing now i think its needed to use it how it was designed with dex in mind. multitasking is surprisingly smooth. the only thing it maybe is missing is a track pad but you can just connect a bluetooth mouse if your that bothered.

Are you finding the cover adds a lot of weight? I'm using a Bluetooth keyboard and Dex is pretty good. I also like sitting at the dining room table using keyboard short cuts like ESC to go back a step and PAGE UP to go to the top of forum pages etc..

The screen is also excellent. :)

A relative bought one of these recently, it's nice but using them side by side with my Pixel C you could clearly see the Pixel C display was much brighter in our conservatory, apparently she charged the Tab S4 before she got here and it needed charging while my Pixel C was barely down to 60% battery and we were playing the same game. (Vainglory).

The OLED display was vibrant, too much for me although I'm sure you can change it, the speakers were definitely better though, Pixel C speakers OK at best.

Why are tablets from Samsung so half arsed?

Sounds like she had auto brightness enabled, it can be quite dim depending on the environment. I always over ride it if I'm watching media.

Also, I just did a flight from USA (8 hrs) and watched back to back episodes and battery was nowhere near flat, above 60% if I remember correctly.
