Gallardo. 92,000 miles.

Presumably most gallardo's are stopping and starting a lot more than this one, which seemed to spend its like doing long runs from town to town where he might burn a whole tank of fuel before stopping. Probably not an average use case, as as such his ability to make the clutch last 90k could be plausible?

Hmmm.... maybe, if he drove very carefully. Most owners seem to be getting around the 20k mark in normal driving, without much thrashing, and this guy mentions a stack of speeding tickets. I think he'd be lucky to get to 90k myself.

It's not impossible. When I had the Cerb the clutch was thought to last not much more than 40k. Mine went at ~42k. However, one guy still had his original clutch into the 80k+ area... However, with half the expected average lifespan, I'd say that a 92k clutch in a Gallardo would be very rare indeed...

I wonder how someone with no money, who'd last remaining assets would be seized to pay off the outstanding debt of the new lambo was able to get his own business started.............. ?

i congratulate this bloke, he didnt life get him down and did what he wanted to do.

he forgon all the worries and troubles of money and just enjoyed himself.

Yes his car wasnt serviced at a dealership but so what, as long as he changed all the oils properly then hes just doing whats meant to be done without having to pay massive bills.

If your cruising around in 6th gear on the motorways out there it makes sense that a clutch would last along time.

Now hes had his fun and lived a little hes going back to normality and doing something he enjoys to pay the bills.

Id swap my life for his, when hes on his deathbed he will have loads to look back through

You have to remember what this is though - not many of these will ever come close to, or are expected to come close to, that mileage in their lifetime, let alone in a few years! :D

Don't forget we really don't know what the maintainence was like on this either...

Interesting story but deffo a lot of BS going on but supposed that makes it more interesting?! probs a lot of important info left out etc, still nuts though :)

I actually cannot believe that some people seem to be seriously impressed that the Gallardo managed 92,000 miles. I find it absoultely appalling that a car worth well in excess of £100,000 has such a short life span.

Youre wondering why somthing that kicks out 540nm of torque doesnt want to rip itself to shreds within 100k ??

Really?

Why should it, poor engineering if it constantly fails and breaks and has been serviced correctly in line with the manufacturers recommendations.

92k miles is a little outside the bounds of the usually manufacturers warranty, nevermind a highly strung, performance engine..

+performance
-reliability

Hence F1/Motogp etc, regular rebuilds
