can we please not petty argue over genres? as far as I'm concerned, stuff like that is just as subjective as music itself.

Whos arguing?

It depends. The majority of bands classed as metalcore take their cue from the likes of At the Gates and Sick of it All. Solos are irrelevent, I feel. I'd say that Hatebreed, Throwdown, Terror etc are more "pure" metalcore because you can clearly hear the combination of massive Pantera riffs and huge Sick of it All style beatdowns.

True that, cheers.

The first was just a bit funny (World Behind, Burn, etc. always used to make me laugh), but the new one is just comically bad. They actually rip off a Pantera song (IIRC) for one of the songs too.

lol I quite like 'The World Behind' :D

Its not a bad album though nothing groundbreaking but it saved me during a draught of Metal :) Wont be buying anymore of their stuff though.

I guess it doesn't matter, but it just seems completely pointless, the whole "isn't it metalcore/hardcore/metallic-hardcore?" thing. just makes more sense to me to listen to it and enjoy it! is there really that much of a difference between metalcore and metallic hardcore?

lol, I have no idea :D

hehe ;)

Just been having a listen to the new Will Haven - on a cursory listen to the first few tracks, I really like it. Love the new guy's voice - it's totally different but I think it really works!

As I said before, if you don't know how they're different you're hardly going to appreciate the difference when listening. It's very clearly defined for me as, generally, I don't like all that many metalcore bands, whereas I like quite a lot of metallic hardcore.

So, I picked up a Zao album today, and it turns out I quite like metallic hardcore! who knew?!

Gallows are good fun. Hammered the album for a while when I got it. Haven't listened to it for a bit now though, doesn't have a huge amount of depth... Quite amusing live too, the ceiling in the Rock City basement got completely ripped down, with all the electrics and stuff hanging from the ceiling by the end of the gig, fans and the bands went mental.

And Zao are baaaaad Sic :p

dude, when are you going to realise that I'm right and you're wrong. every time our opinion differs, I am right! how long have we been having this argument?!

It's not an argument. I state a fact, you try and refute it in vain!

:D

How good are Ghost of A Thousand!

They're pretty cool. Not really doing anything out of the ordinary but catchy. I remember seeing them with Poison the Well earlier in the year. I'm not sure if it was them but I seem to associate them sounding a lot like Refused when I saw them play....(a little too much that is).

ANyone heard recently that Gallows have signed a 1million pound record deal to warner bros, 2 albums

That's pretty old news. They have their own record label via Warner called Black Envolope Records. They have also signed to Epitaph on the US.

It's interesting that they managed to get signed to a major. They don't exactly have a sound that will sell hundreds of thousands of records...

I suppose its a good thing for other bands tho. Certainly proves that it's not impossible.

recently frank from gallows, announced that him and the other band members cant deal with the recent uprise of the band and all the publicity, and being in the spotlight, said they were talking about calling it a day. but were unsure.
