I remember a online poker website the minute passed midnight sold it's company for $1 because of this.

my understanding was that it was made illegal, but now they are trying to pass a bill or something that will allow it again or something like that.

Gambling in most states is illegal. It is also illegal to set up premisis for the use of gambling. Therfore in the US it is most likely illegal to gamble online and to set up an online casino.

I think the way the law is set up is that it is not onlime gambling that is illegal, it is the facilitating of money transfers to onlime gambling sites
