Game down but not out.

Well, they deserved to die out tbh but if new management provides sensible prices (doubt it'd ever compare with steam) and more emphasis on PC section then I welcome them back.

Huh!!!

My local store is still open & Always beats the Indie store for prices & Smashes them & Everybody else when it comes to customer service. Steam are more expensive on release so God knows what you are on about there. Sure you can order cheaper online but then you risk missing out on day of release & returns are a nightmare.
My local Game swapped out my 360 3 times & then did me a Cracking deal when I swapped my Fat PS3 for a Slim. They've bent over backwards looking after me over the years & there is not one single shop Anywhere that has looked after me better apart from the ones owned by my mates.
Over the years they have earnt my Loyalty through the way they have acted & for the effect it's had on my town when it comes to gaming shops/market etc
Long Live Game. :D

To be fair now that the stores across the street from each other have been closed down I can see them turning this around and they will definitely have to work to develop their online side of things a lot more too.

The fact that companies like GAME have restricted digital distribution for so long, I really wouldn't be sad to see any of them go. I do feel sorry for the workers though. I really can't see GAME surviving in the long term.

With the possible news that the next XBox won't have a disc drive, will mean that the next gen consoles will also be digital download only. This will mean that Game won't actually have any games to sell, and will basically only be in the add-ons market.

With all the publishers wanting a bigger slice of cake (which they get from Digital Distribution), I don't see it going that well for Game in the long term.

I got my logitech DF GT wheel in Game for £79.99, and they are usually £100 + at other places, even online, so Game is not always the most expensive place.

i dont know why GAME just doesnt do a deal with steam and they could have a single computer terminal in each store where you can download a purchase onto a USB stick. (the game could already be on a storage device inside the shop so theres no bandwidth costs)

people pay the steam price but GAME get a 10% cut or something
