Game file sizes could soon be 70% smaller

No it's been done by tdk.

Producing discs in alab is one thing, mass manufacturing them is another.
At the moment it'd be nice if they could produce double layer discs with any kind of reliability.

All current blu-ray movies are single layer 25GB, and smaller than the double layer HD-DVD discs (30GB). By the time Sony gets its act together and releases double layer discs there will be triple layer HD-DVD discs out.

Also there's no guarantee a PS3 will even be able to read triple+ layer discs.

No but it doesn't matter as films will be on dual layer regardless. Anymore than that is simply for storage and backups.

So why did you relate the 200gb of storage with film companies? ;)

I hope this does happen, getting daft when games often 7-8gb up on the HD. Especially good for patches, no more 500mb ones :D
