It can get up to 200GB, though that's by 6 layers I think. Standard wise though, it's 25GB and 50GB to begin I believe, though I'd have thought a 200GB would cost quite a lot.
Producing discs in alab is one thing, mass manufacturing them is another.
At the moment it'd be nice if they could produce double layer discs with any kind of reliability.
All current blu-ray movies are single layer 25GB, and smaller than the double layer HD-DVD discs (30GB). By the time Sony gets its act together and releases double layer discs there will be triple layer HD-DVD discs out.
Also there's no guarantee a PS3 will even be able to read triple+ layer discs.
