Hey all, hoping for some advice. My dad has just finished putting together what's probably his last pc ever. He's 83, got a head injury not too long ago, and is now the proud owner of a ryzen 7600x and 4090.... He wanted a project and to build a computer, so he got one.

Now he wants something pretty to play on it. I'm looking for something that's not too complicated, very nice to look at (medieval/historical preferred), and enjoyable. Also, no quick time type events or quick reactions etc would be preferred.

Witcher 3 i considered, but it's a complicated game even if you turn it onto easy combat. Haven't played rdr2 but how simple is that on easy? I think the world of kingdom come deliverance could be perfect, but I seem to remember that could be tricky in combat?

Any ideas?

Chivalry 2 is great - I know you said no quick reaction type games but you can play defensive with a shield and pick your moments to attack.

He's 83, and quite literally has a hole in his head due to a bleed on the brain not long ago, unless there's a special category for similar players, I don't think he'll be upto much :D

Anno 1800?

That might be a nice idea.

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys :D

This sounds like most of my team mates when I solo que CS:GO, maybe that would work? :p

Cities: Skylines, while a very complex game can be taken very slowly and with the right mods, a bit of time and the right creative vision you can construct such beautiful cities then sit and watch as your little Cims go about their daily lives.

Minecraft RTX or whatever it's called? Haven't played Minecraft since the early 2010s but think there's an RTX version which looks amazing, and I remember having loads of fun just exploring caves and mining.

Are there any crazy GTA5 mods to push the PC? Could be fun driving around/being a menace on that

Company of Heroes 3? Again haven't played it but its pretty new so might look nice and fills the history requirement.

Skyrim - I'd suggest a sneaky sniper, pretty much rules out a lot of fast paced combat though not entirely.
Anno 1800 - great game, if you go for it I'd suggest year 4 complete edition tbh. From memory they shaft you if you buy the DLC later rather than buying it outright.
Cities Skylines (though I'd probably just say wait for #2 as I don't think it's too far off)
Satisfactory is a good shout too, but it's not historical obviously. Fairly sure you can turn off the hostiles.

Anno 1800 is looking good, thanks for the advice on the complete edition. Satisfactory could really satisfy him too I reckon.
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of game in the base game - and it might be that you don't care on saving the £s. In which case you might be better of just buying the base so he can get used to the game, and then add the DLCs gradually as they do add more things/mechanics, easing him into it all.

Anno 1800 or Age of Empires
This. Age of Empires 4 ... on easy difficulty it's not challenging against the AI ; has a medieval theme and incorporates media/videos into the gameplay for historical context and added flavour. Is he into World War 2 stuff ? If so, could try Company of Heroes 3 ... not the best game, but if you're into that era it's still fun.
