Game installing studpidly slow

Ok so installing WoW Vanilla (6 years old) and it's taking for EVERRRR. It's like 70% done after 2 hours?!? My PC has a 7200RPM HDD and a good spec. It's been on disc 3 on 'texture.MPQ' now for over 30 mins and not moved. I've took the disc out and back in and it's still the same.

Why could it going so slowwwww?

It always did have a ridiculously long installation.

I have installed it on my old PC many times and took no where near this amount of time. Not even half this.

You'd be better off getting the installer of the WoW website, Vanilla is going to take forever updating anyway!

Installer is 3.2GB and my connection is only 2MB. Sucks.

You installing from the original 4 cd set? If so you'll have gigs of updates anyway....

yeah i know what you mean, i just been downloading it off the internet and with all the updates its been taking ages.
Next time i think i'll set it going at night and should be done by the time i get up

Nope, from the discs you can just install TBC and WotLK straight after and it will only patch from WotLK i.e. 3.0 onwards. Got the patches on my other PC so will just copy them accross anyway.

If you have wrath just install from that, it can clean install and its much faster than using the multiple cds for vanilla/bc

So i can just shove the Wrath CD in and it will install the whole game?
