US: Game of Thrones Season 3 (contains spoilers)

I don't really know what you mean.....Pretty much everything that happened in ACOK was in season 2 wasn't it....I don't remember anything in season two from ASOS.

A few things. Brienne putting the Kingslayer in a boat. Sam getting a load of wights go past him. Robb meeting and marrying that southern hottie. We never see Stannis get dragged away from battle (although this may have been artistic license IDK yet though).

Either I missed a load of chapters, this is from SoS, or it's completely fabricated. I have a feeling it's in SoS though.

I REALLY hope so, as there is just so much going on in ASOS, it really is the best of the series imo, by quite a long way. And there is an extremely pivotal event that happens that they could easily use to split it in to two seasons

It does make sense for them to do it like that IMO. Books 6 and 7 aren't written yet so if each season does stick loosely to each book then it allows 4 years until a season that covers book 6 (if those aren't split up too!).

Iirc you are right about Brienne/Jaime....I think the second book ends with Catelyn letting him go? and then they start off in the first few chapters of ASOS. and yes, the marriage of Robb/whoever does happen in ASOS, but isn't really important tbh(well it is massively important, but it doesn't really matter when it happens).

The Wights attacking is the prologue of ASOS iirc (it has been a while since I read the first 3 books), It is good that they ended Season 2 with it though imo, as it makes a great end to the season, but maybe not a great opening.

Actually the last you read of Catelyn in ACoK was her visiting the Kingslayer and giving him some wine then asking Brienne for her sword (obviously had I not seen season 2 I'd be assuming she was about to slice his head off). It's a shame so much time was devoted to Jaime's release and Robb's marriage because they could have used the time reconstructing Arya's chapters more to the book. Arya is so much more ruthless in the books, like a ninja! The whole Harrenhall situation was much more complex than it simply being Lord Tywin's too. I suppose there is only so much you can do with 10 hours though. I do agree about the way HBO ended season 2. ACoK ended with so many cliffhangers that it was a good idea to have a really big one for the series to maintain viewers interests. Well I look forward starting ASoS, it'll be the first book where I don't know what's going to happen :p

I would say that overall the series is incredibly faithful to the books tbh, considering that they can't do everything

Oh, it's not a criticism, both the show and the books are excellent, it's just interesting, like I said.

I think I need to re-watch Season 2, because for some reason it's not as clear in my mind as the first, but I'd like to compare the way they go about dealing with the same overall plot without directly similar scenes.

Does this really class as a US tv show, seeing as the majority of the cast are British, and it's filmed mainly around Europe?
:)

This forum is not US produced shows, just shows that air in the US, more often than not before they are shown in the UK, this means we have lots of people that have seen the show and want to talk about it, however this is a UK based forum so it's not fair to spoil it for people that have to wait a week or a month to see it.

I need to get my butt in gear and finish COK and ASOS before the season starts!

The last ~200 pages of ACoK are super good compared to the tv show, you really get a different feel for the characters and their mindsets, Catelyn for example is devastated by the 'loss' of Bran and Rickon. As we know from the TV show from very early on that Bran is in fact alive I felt very confused when she releases the Kingslayer, but of course it makes sense in the books because she sees it as having only Jon alive and Sansa is custody. That's just my opinion anyway, I just find it harder to know what each character is aware of about the other characters in the TV show a lot of the time. p.s., sorry if that's a spoiler, it shouldn't be though if you've seen season 2.

I was just trying to be a bit of a smart arse, not serious.

Wasn't the last series shown within a few days of the US?
It sucks when we have to wait months for a show

Yeah, Sky Atlantic seem to be doing a decent job on the delay front. I still see no reason why a lot of American shows can't be aired within the next couple of days.

Even a few days delay is enough to create spoilers, especially for the people that haven't read the books.

Personally can't wait for this season and from someone who hasn't read the books, what can I expect? Do we know much about this season yet (apart from the release date and a few new cast members)?

It's hard to say really as the TV show's plot is partly very faithful and partly completely different - the general gist is exactly the same but there's some fairly major differences.

Also I plowed through the books at quite a pace because I got really into them, so I can't really remember where each book finished.

Me and a friend of mine watched the show up to where it got to, then read the books, then started watching the show again and upon the second viewing there's lots of stuff you notice having read the books, they've done a nice job imo :)

What to expect in Season 3 depends on if they're doing the full third book or they're splitting it over two seasons.

Without giving too much away, let's just say some big characters don't make it out of the third book. If it's as good as the book it will likely be the best Season so far.

cant believe we have to wait till march this and breaking bad have been best tv series i ever watched

that blonde dragon ladie i want to mount :D

^ That's good to hear can't wait to start reading,
literally got hard ons reading the jon ygritte sex sessions lol

Well HBO won't do it, I don't think Emelia signed up to have her **** out in every episode. I mean in Qarth she was supposed to have her left *** our constantly, Mormont basically just pervs over it all day long, we should have had that scene :p

Looking forward to seeing what this guy can bring to the show.
