Game Pad

does the xbox360 pad have programable buttons for extra key actions ?

Just use Xpadder or some equivalent. You don't need it built into the pad on the PC.

Doesn't Xbox pad feel 'clunky'?

I would have thought that there is greater control on the buttons, etc with logitech gamepad as it is thinner and smaller, so easier to use.

I also own a logitech gamepad btw.

Not really. It's the best supported pad, and extremely comfortable.

I don't see how a pad being smaller would be any easier unless you had very petite hands.

If it's mainly racing games you will be playing, they have limited controls anyway. And most racing games have 360 pad as a control option, so you don't even need to configure it! Literally plug n play!

On the comfort, I have reasonably small hands as I am a small guy. And the 360 pad is very comfortable. It looks big, but feels great when using it.

If i bought the xbox360 pad can i programe the buttons to do different actions than the default settings?

Yeah, I think so. Think you can just make it a custom config. But overall, the button configs for 360 pad supported games are pretty sensible already :)

With that Logitech pad, you'll have to go and make a custom config for every game also, which gets a bit boring.

360 is the most comfy pad I have ever used and the easiest pad to use it even changes the buttons on some games to match them!

it supports any game with the games for windows tag or whatever it is...so pretty much every game in the last 4 years, that actually benefits from a pad.

dirt3, f1, lost planet, street fighter etc etc etc.....

right i shall buy the xbox360 pad. if its pants i shall blame you lot :)

It's not pants, trust us ;)

So off the top of peoples head can they list some new / newish games the xbox360 pad supports without any configuring?

for example F1 2010 ?

Yup, F1 2010 works.

This is apparently a list of ALL the games which support the use of the pad :) 297 games. And that's probably not even a full list.

Oh whilst we are on the subject of gamepads does anyone know if there is something that combines both charging and wireless reciever for the 360 pad into one neat package preferably only using one USB port? Oh and preferably in black :p

Using a wireless kit here since I already had 2 pads for my 360. Setting up a USB controller for games which support the 360 pad is an absolute headache IMO, really much easier with this pad.

If you need to mimic mouse or mess about with the controller buttons, as suggested above, xpadder or whatever will give you all the customisation you need.
