I normally game on 1024x768 and don't bother going any higher. I've tried with a few games before and while some a fine others just make it really hard to read the text.

Civ 4 is the best example I can think off, I find the writing too small.

Now OcUK am I just getting old and blind or are other people like this too?

I game at 1920x1200 but the only game i liked in a small resolution was championship manager cause the same reason you gave the writing was easier to read and easy on the eyes aswell.

I game at 2048x theres very few games (but there are some) where the text/icons become too small... I haven't tried civ 4 mind to compare that tho.

I always game at the native resolution of my monitor (1920x1200) or the nearest available. I've never had a problem reading text that I can recall. I've never really compared, but I would have thought most games would scale the text when you adjust the resolution?

I tried playing Startopia the other day and nearly burned my eyes out reading the text at 1920x1200. Evil Genius is the same.

I game on my 42" 1920x1080 TV.

Some games, however, decide to keep the UI/text at a fixed pixel size, rather than scale with the resolution - so many games are unplayable at a distance more than about 4 feet! :(

Which means some games I have to play in a lower, and non-native resolution :(

I changed Civ 4 to my native resolution of 1280x1024 last night and it wasn't as bad as I remember. It certainly looks a lot better but it'd be much easier if you could scale the text as it takes a bit of getting used to.
