I changed the spec a little and reduced the price by like £150 and I can't go to 800 as my parents want it to include a tv/ monitor

After all this time how come nobody has questioned how in gods name he's spending £1200 on a new pc? Not just that but how the hell he could convince his parents to fork out that much. I can only assume they don't have a frigging clue because you could get a pretty good pc for half that, beyond about £800 you're mostly just paying for the privilage of new things and not value for money.

It's alright about the sleep thing as I'm not sleepy. I know about the finance and stuff but when I ask them about it they say they have got the money so I decide to believe them because there would be no use in challenging them as they will start shouting at me because I am not believing in what they say to me.

I'm just saying, don't pressure them. They won't tell you that they can't afford something that you're really looking forward to, especially since they promised you that thing. Waiting for such a gift is a long time and in the meantime they might have much more serious financial needs that you won't be (thankfully) aware of.

It's ok not to ask, just bear that in mind if there are any unexpected delays and excuses start coming out. In that case, ask them nicely to get you something else (much more reasonably priced, of course) to keep you busy in the meantime ;)

If they do delay it I will be fine with it.
What do you think of the spec.

£1200 on a gaming pc at 12, geez.

When I was 12 me and my two brothers had to do chores for months just to get a Gamecube as a joint Christmas present, and they only cost around £120-150 at the time, lol.

edit: maybe go for a cheaper MSI motherboard instead?

This is getting a bit off topic (or not, since you're the OP), but I'll try and give you some advice on how to save the money on "your", whatnot, expensive purchase.

First of all, you could get rid of the HDMI cable unless the monitor you're purchasing doesn't come with one (I'm sure it does, though).

You can get an Ethernet cable if your PC is relatively close to the router or your parents don't mind laying down cables. It's a worthwhile investment anyway. The wireless dongle would become obsolete in this case.

You can easily cut down on the DVD writer unless you rip a lot of these and have to label them professionally.

Get your parents to find you a student discount for the Win 7. They should be easily found for some £50 or so with the discount.

Second of all, you can get a much cheaper than £173.50 monitor so unless it's something really good, look for an alternative.

GeForce GTX480 cards are pretty good value at the moment but you have to bear in mind the noise that can make you deaf by the age of 16. I suggest you look for a model with an aftermarket cooler. I know that some competitors did sell other non-reference GTX480s close to £180 mark.

If you decide to go with this card anyway, sell the games immediately. I can assure you they're crap and you're better off wasting money on something else.

You certainly don't need that powerful power supply, it won't affect your PC's performance to downgrade to a 600W unit but it will certainly save your parents some cash. Probably around £40 or so.

I'm sure there are decent Sandybridge boards around £110 mark too.

All in all I would certainly save some £150-200 on this PC without cutting down on the raw power.

Well I think we should leave the speccing till July and mark an end to this thread

I feel sad to this but
