Just so you know the gamecube component cable does not work. It was a feature removed from PAL consoles because Nintendo thought of europe as behind the times I guess. The NTSC version did however. RGB cable is your best bet but make sure it is a offical one as a lot of the third part stuff is crap. My daughter has my old gamecube in her bedroom with RGB on a 26" HDTV and the games look fine.
The official component cable works great on the early PAL Gamecubes. However, with later Gamecubes the "Digital" socket was removed from the Gamecube so you couldn't even plug a component lead in.
