Okay I know I’m wayyy behind the times with this one but wow what a great game, I picked up a Gamecube second hand (via MM) about a year or so ago and have played various games here and there. One of the games included was Zelda Windwaker, whilst I looked at it a few times I never really spent any real time with it.

But the other day I moved my Gamecube into my office and hooked it up to the PC in an attempt to use it a little more, well tonight I’ve just spent the last three or so hours playing it solid and its completely engrossing.

I’ll put my hand up and admit to using a player’s guide when stuck (would never find the time to work it all out by myself) but the game has me utterly sucked in. Great visuals, strong story and a control system that drops you into the game without having to think.

Playing this reminds me what a great console the Gamecube is and what a bargain it and the games can be had for.

I keep meaning to finish it as I got it on release (it was the reason I bought my GC), and spent about 60-70 hours playing it but got distracted :(

Great game, and although it looks very kiddy at times is extremely enjoyable for adults.

One thing that I do think however, is that the wand of the wind (or whatever it's called) would be great used with the wii controler ;)

I loved this game. Shuch an awesome story and some wiked gameplay.
The ending is awesome, but I wont spoil anything for anyone.
I'm really looking forward to the next Zelda game... looks like it will be awesome! :)

Eurgh, I really didn't like that game despide trying hard to like it. I almost felt like I had been robbed once I had completed it. Maybe LttP and OoT have just spoilt me and I expected too much.

it was the sailing that got to me :( and having to fanny about with the wind.

I guess, like others i expected to much from it.

I expect we'll see something about Twilight Princess next week at e3 presumeably some idea of a release date and the big question of will they release it on the gamecube or cut their losses and release it on the wii.

Interesting bit on the 1up podcast this week when they mentioned about what format it would be on the guy hosting it said they were bound by an NDA (till E3) and couldnt talk about it!! Now i'd have thought if it was going to be a straight gamecube game then they wouldnt have been gagged by nintendo as thats what we already think it is going to be so maybe it isnt gonna be a straight gamecube title....or maybe im just reading something into nothing :D

Windwaker is fantastic, its still one of the best games on cube even if its not as good as OoT.

The sailing never bothered me, in fact I found it quite relaxing and I found that by the time I had exposed the entire map I was also at the end of the game so it kept me engaged with wanteing to explore / getting on with the quest.

My ownly gripe would be the last boss is way too easy. I had expected a much harder ending.

I suppose that's why I'm enjoying it so much, I've never really played a Zelda game so had no expectations.

i order you to either get the bonus disk from wind waker, or the collectors edition, and play ocarina of time!

its simply a beautiful game, i loved it from start to finish it took me ages to do it the first time, then i bought the guide and redid it. and i couldnt believe how much stuff i had missed, understandably it took less time to complete but i couldnt believe how much more there was to this game :)

It's brilliant, but who totally completed and got photos of Every character in the game made into figurines? :D

me :D like i said i had the guide and did EVERYTHING

i even redid the game after getting the colour camera just to take some snaps of when i was in Hyrule castle after you get the Major whoopass sword just to get some decent pictures that the camera dude went nuts over. forgotten what you got for it now

Okay I'm now stuck, I need to take a photo of a full moon within the game. I've been waiting/sailing/trying everything but no matter if it day or night there's never a full moon (only cresents).

Is there some sort of lunar cycle to this game and if so how long does it take? :(

I actually preferred WW to OoT. :o

Better gameplay mechanics (great battle system), a more unique and interesting graphical style, and a better plot (I really liked the way they tied the story in to OoT's, and it was more than just the same old "save the princess and the day" stuff). I just never thought OoT was that super-duper-amazing when I played it. Good yes, but it never got me obsessed like it seemed to get everyone else.

LttP still rules over both of them though.
