Hi guys

What is/are the best gamepad(s) out there in the market one of these day?

I want to get one, to play Wings of Prey, Need For Speed and more importantly, a great number of adventure games, so preferably the gamepad must be mapped-able to key strokes on the keyboard.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!!!

Only gamepad I'd recommend of late is the XBox 360. Mainly because it just works and there are a ton of games out there that support it out of the box.

I wouldn't have anything else.

Oh and the wireless version works perfectly as well.

i went for the xbox wireless controller, at around £35

plug and play set up, a lot of new games are mapped for it.

i also use pinacle to map keys for games which are not mapped

I have the logitech cordless rumblepad 2

Its a clone of the ps3 controller except for a few buttons

It needs setting up in some games, some work instantly like Trackmania.

Only thing I dont like about it is the dpad, its one of those disc shaped designs that I find particularly unbearable in fighting games.

Same, though I've had it years - i doubt it's PS3 based ;)

I HATE the xbox pad. Press right and it always manages to think I want to press up right or down right :o

The Xbox 360 pad works very well for a large variety of PC games, especially since most are lazy ports nowadays.

I use the wireless version with receiver for PC. The pad works fine with rechargeable batteries too (despite it saying it doesn't), so save yourself from buying the play and charge kit of you already have a battery charger.

Wow! Almost every one recommends XBOX 360.

No one recommends Logitech?

About the XBox 360, which is the current version, I saw black color and white colored which one is the current one?

Also is the response time good? And the joysticks, are they accurate?

Yeah, never had a problem with response. The joysticks are as good as any really, though you really need a 5% deadzone in most games that are sensitive to it, like racing games.

Another vote for Xbox360 pad, almost ideal.

Almost :D

The 360 pad is excellent, as long as you don't need a decent D-pad. Everything else is super, including ergonomics and build quality.

But frankly the D-pad on the controller is abysmal. Forget pulling off Up, Right, Diagonal on this thing. In fact it's pretty hard to press Up when you want to - you have a very good chance of getting Diagonal instead.
