Has this "gamer girl" stuff "jumped the shark" so to speak... this seems to be peak ridiculousness - an instagrammer/youtuber person decided to respond to some ongoing joke about drinking her bathwater by actually selling samples of it... which then promptly sold out?????

I'm curious, since this community, by nature of being overclocking related, has a lot of gamers does anyone on here actually follow this person? Is she any good at playing video games or is she more interested in being an Insta-ho/model/"influencer"?

Did any of you lot buy the bathwater?

Belle Delphine, the social media star and so-called “gamer girl”, made headlines this week for selling her used bath water online.

Delphine, 19, who has a global following (4.2 million on Instagram), announced she would be selling $30 bottles of “bath water for all you thirsty gamer boys” in an Instagram post that garnered more than 500,000 likes.

Although the sale was widely mocked, the bottles of bath water sold out immediately. But who’s buying it?

“She’s the type of girl who’s fun and outgoing and has a sense of humor whilst also being really pretty,” one fan told the Guardian via Instagram DM. “I can’t really explain the bath water. I think it’s more of a talking piece. For the vast majority I think it’s just merchandise.”

She making money from idiots... i cant hate on that

I don't think anyone is hating on it per say, it is just a bit bizarre and so has attracted a lot of attention. (and no doubt increased her followers)

Though a quick google reveals her dressing in S&M gear too etc.. it seems she's heightened things a fair bit more than usual in terms of wanting to come across in some sexual manner while remaining an instagrammer/"gamer girl" and not a porn star/cam girl.

To be honest you are all a bunch of old fogies that wouldn't know cool if it slapped you in the face with tentacles. This is clearly perfectly normal and you need to get with the times.

LMFAO that is pretty funny to be fair to her :D

Does seem to play on the Japanese theme a bit, like she's dressed as a Japanese cartoon character and they've got a bit of history with girls and tentacles in their culture dating back a few hundred years:

(warning - one of the historical Japanese illustrations in the below article is probably NSFW)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dream_of_the_Fisherman's_Wife

Is their any proof this actually happened as it would be amusing if some of the buyers posted a bottle of bath water they recieved.

Apparently someone from Reddit bought some (what a surprise) - they claim to have DNA tested it and are disputing that it is bathwater:

Yep, when they hit their 30s the whole cute "gamer girl" thing wont pay anymore. Suddenly realising they should have focused on a career with longevity.

It isn't like this likely takes up all of her time, could easily keep this as a part time gig while at uni etc...

Update - apparently Instagram have "banned" her/her account is currently deactivated:

https://www.unilad.co.uk/viral/bell...instagram-for-breaching-community-guidelines/

Delphine, who had 4.5 million followers on the social media site, shot to internet fame this year thanks largely to her bathwater stunt, while also tricking fans into thinking she was going to make porn for Pornhub.

The cos-player and self-professed ‘gamer girl’ used to regularly post risque gaming and anime-themed photos, as well as selling various products on her online store.

However, it seems Belle’s recent stunts haven’t had such a welcome reaction from everyone, as some users reported her account for breaching community guidelines.

As such, the 19-year-old’s account has now been deactivated, with a ‘Sorry, this page isn’t available’ message appearing in its place.

That backfired then!

Possibly, yeah.

Though she seems to have upset incels (who hate "thots") and feminists and other "gamer girls".... might well just be that the mass reporting has had an impact and could be reversed. She seems fairly switched on so I'd suspect she is quite careful to make sure her content doesn't break the rules.

Yeah, 20 years ago girls might have been on 'babestation' for a few hundred quid

Now they can make a fortune using instagram and get donations and not even have to talk to these guys

They were sort of a thing back then (well 15 or so years ago at least). It was cam girls back in the early naughties, one girl at my uni was into it - back then they had to do a bit of minor web development too to host pics etc.. and would have some single word domain and some random foreign TLD like .nu.

Social media was around - stuff like "faceparty" but no news feed etc...

Anyway the girl who did it back then is a doctor now, it was quite a bold move I thought at the time, random creepy guys about a decade older than her paying money for provocative pics or to chat etc... don't think they earned anything like the current generation.

I was just thinking, if she was on some contemporary art course at the likes of Goldsmiths then she'd probably be able to submit either the pornhub profile or the bathwater thing as a final year dissertation and it would completely eclipse most other entries.

Que? You telling me she only started doing all this weird stuff the moment she hit 18? I don't think so.

She started doing it when she was 17 according to a youtube video posted on here and was banned from one of those social media/vidoe/streaming platforms as a result. Was also involved in some catfishing scam where she sold nudes belonging to some other girl apparently.

She's 19 and I would bet everything I own that she does have a manager. Think about it

She had a boyfriend(?) or ex boyfriend now (I'm assuming?) who was involved in a company she set up, but seemingly isn't any more:

Well obviously it is "art" then it is totally different....

Same applies to actual images/film I believe. - which is why you get things like some rock band I can't remember having a very dodgy album cover (and a controversy over the album cover being featured in a wikipedia article). Or actresses like Keira Knightley or Brooke Shields getting their boobs out in movies while underaged etc...

Thing I don't get is, people like her, do they lack some sort of logical smarts? It's pretty clear it's not going to be a long career for people who do these sorts of things, same goes for Twitch streamers. So why don't they just make enough money and quit then invest the earned money in actual things. Why continue being greedy and preying on the easily swayed?

If it was me, I'd make those 6 figures then bail. The investments would bring in a steady stream of profit and I could then focus on things to better myself and those around me. Or is it because people like her are too young to think of the bigger picture?

Seems more like you’re missing the bigger picture, she probably is saving a lot and she’s making plenty of money at the moment. While it perhaps takes some effort it is hardly a hugely demanding thing so why would she quit at the moment?

Was banned years ago..

That isn't quite so clear, wiki seems to suggest that they've been restricted in various prefectures as of 2004:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burusera

Perhaps adding to the confusion there are often reports still of people seeing such machines though maybe they're not selling genuine used goods so as to get around any regulations... or perhaps they're illegal or maybe the regulations/restrictions aren't a complete ban.

Erm... seems like a pretty low standard of "smart enough" if it includes realising that being a prostitute can earn you money.

The smart thing about the person who is the subject of this thread is that she's made far more money than even quite well known pornstars, let alone random whores and she's done so simply through teasing/not actually going fully nude (while obviously not leaving too much to the imagination).
