Hello,

I'm going to upgrade my Evga 780i and Q6600 (@3.4ghz) puter cus its developing a few issues I cant seem to resolve.

so I'm going to go the lazy route and get one of these...

Number 1 (rampage III board)
or
Number 2

I just wondered Which one to go for^ loving the sabertooth but cant help be seduced by all the extras that rampage 3 offers ace board. so comments welcomed please? :p

What benefits would getting a ssd have, and for what? OS or Game installs, there soooo exspensive. my choice, SSD

these boards has 6gp/s sata ports so was going to use 2 of these (way smaller size though)
Hard drives
Would these drives be quicker than a raid set up (Iwould have no idea)

If no to above then can I set up a decent raid using these two high speed sata ports??? how would that work having just 2 ports where would 3rd drive go

Not going to upgrade Gpu's yet as my 280gtx's are still ok and flying, but I did want the optoin of either ATI or nvidia and the boards accomadate that,
So do the gpu's swap about all ok. no issues?

Cheers for any help,

If your purpose is just gaming then I would suggest the i5 7** route.

An SSD would provide major boost to the load and boot times of apps and your OS. Your GPUs should work no issues.

A sskyline says, if this is gaming then get a i5 bundle @4ghz.

as for those sata 6gb/s drives, dont bother.

just buy some samsung F3 or seagate barracuda 7200.11/12, they are just as fast without the pointless sata3.0 interface that a mechanical drive cant even hope to reach, sata3.0 is good for SSD drives.

Ok thanks, that resolves a few questions brilliant. I'm curious though, an I7 won't have a negative impact on games would it?
Cus I fancied one just to muller converting, and the bit of 3d stuff I do, and most importantly to kick the bottom out of my mates new system.

it wont be "negative" just for a gaming system unnecessary, but if you think you could use it? then go for it.

You're trying to talk yourself into buying an i7 rig ;) an i5 760 based system (and can be oced to 4+ghz on a good cooler) would be more than ample!

hahah all good reasons to go i7, especially the last one. Really there is no loss of going i7 both are very capable gaming machines. the reasons we spec i5 generally is that it is a cheaper option for gaming and although it is just slightly better than i7 at gaming it is unlikely you would see the difference. But you mention 3d work and therefore a i7 might suit your needs more.

There's only one I5 option, which is a bit disappointing really. So I prob would have entertained it If there were 3 or 4 options,
So I7 it is lol.

Will make it a good all rounder, I guess. To be honest If I could justify it I'd have the evga classified bundle, but oddly I can't lol

Now tell me what are the benefits of 7 ultimate over 7 pro ? And also benefit of retail copy over oe, always.used oe in the past so was curious,

Cheers, I'll leave you In peace after this.

Have a look at this regarding versions of Windows 7 and their features, then just buy the retail pack of Home Premium 64 :)

Retail gives you more freedom as to what you do with your OS than OEM. For example, if you decided to change motherboards (should one die out of warranty or you want to change chip type), an OEM copy is tied to the motherboard it was installed on. For the few extra pounds retail is defiantly worth it.

There are ways to take an OEM copy with you to a different machine, but they are about as legit as downloading a cracked copy from a dodgy torrent site...
