I've just done the survey, what is the title of you're dissertation? because from what I can tell that survey labels all gamers extremely aggressive, unsocialable and lonely lol

I got worried and avoided it when I saw you felt the need to give links to the Samaritans and Depression support etc.

I don't want to do a survey that's going to make me suicidal.

There is no option under "who do you live with" for child/children :(

And the options for what sort of gamer - Mild / Moderate / Excessive.

Hmm. I am none of those either.

I dont think these questions were very well structured and not sure person has an understanding of gamers.

It seems to make the assumption that being a gamer has some sort of effect on your personality and unlike any other pastime it has some kind of psychological impact on the individual.

I ended up answering all the questions with (1) as gaming to me is simply a pastime that I enjoy doing, it has no impact on my psyche or on my relationships or my ability to form and sustain relationships.....

OCUK forums on the other hand.........

Why is there a link to the samaritans?

Because as a gamer, you are psychologically unstable and the assumption is that you will need one of those organisations when the realisation that you are completely bat**** crazy from answering the questions in the survey finally hit home.....;)

I think you need to work on your questionnaire skills. :)

Those questions are terrible and incredibly loaded.

This, the way it's written makes it sound like you've already made up your mind and am just looking for a way to backup what you think. I'm sure if you asked the community would be more than happy to help you write some better questions.

Done, unusual questions, I don't feel gaming has effected me at all...

The problem is I couldn't disagree with the idea that gaming has had a negative effect, and when I looked for the counter one to agree with strongly when I put not at all for the negative efrect some times it wasn't there...

I do remember the all nighter I did about five years ago on runescape... Led to a 40 hour online gaming session... Probably skewed the stats slightly xD

Not too much I had a 36 hour gaming session for charity once....

I answered it but as a person who grew up with gaming I could not answer most of the reflective questions with any degree of accuracy.

Gaming has not changed my life, it is a HUGE part of it.

Contrary to some people in this thread I do think gaming has affected me, however in a positive rather than a negative way.

Teamwork and leadership for instance were something I first learned through computer games.

Even if there is a strong relationship between online gaming addicts and depression, could you conclude that the gaming causes the depression or simply that the gaming is a symptom of the depression?

Completed the survey as best I could.

For future reference, you can't expect people to answer questions accurately if they're based on assumptions. Sometimes ridiculous assumptions.

Stopped answering when the questions became about online gaming. I don't sit indoors all day playing computer games so I have to interact with people .
