Gamers Needed - Dissertation Help :)

Done. Not entirely sure how this survey would help prove anything as pointed out it is a very flawed survey and has a very narrow scope. It is clearly aimed at proving online gaming has a mainly negative (although there were a few positives) effect on a person's character.

As Sin Chase has touched on there are a lot of people mainly of my generation and younger who simply have had gaming as part of their lives from an early age. This makes answering the question "has online gaming made you......" a very difficult question as there is no benchmark to set against. Defining what is a result of the gaming or just a general character trait becomes incredibly difficult due to this, perhaps not so much a problem for the oldies among us :p. Also you may want to highlight the "online" bit some more as someone who is rather tired, skim reading and generally not paying much attention (like myself) might miss it and think it's applying to all gaming in general. The subjective nature of the questions are logically only going to lead to one result. Which is more than likely going to be:

"online gamers feel that the gaming has had little impact on them personally other than a few positives that vary on individual i.e leadership or communication"

I would go further on how this could have been better and why I say what I do but quite frankly I can't be bothered and I'd rather go watch Hugo.

Done - I think the survey is looking for massive changes in lifestyle, when infact, most people just game a bit in their spare time, and aren't massive social retards sitting in the dark self-harming and playing video games until they ejaculate.

Sorry was going to help you out but you seem to be trying to prove a preconceived belief rather than trying to testing something impartially.

Please don't take offense as that is not meant but using terms like "excessive" etc is kind of loaded. You seem to be only attributing negative aspects to gaming when the good research shows that this is not the case and we have gaming being actively used as a treatment for certain medical conditions in children.

Done.

I used to be an elite gamer in my mid teens. It basically took over my time at some stages.

I don't really regret it though. I had some of the best times of my life on games. I did it because I loved it at the time.

Edit: Not sure if it changed me as a person though.. just consumed my time.

Is this questionnaire targeting people with social problems? Because of every question on there I answered that it didn't change anything,

It seems like you have your conclusion of how you want this to end in your head and you have set a series of questions that are not only pointless but also insulting,

If I was you I would go back to the drawing board and come back with a questionnaire that can get a fair representation of the gaming community and stop trying to tar us all with the same "WoW addicted, plays so long he doesn't eat" brush

I Just read through all this and to me it seems like OCUK forums is perhaps not the best place for it. I haven't been here that long but i think most people that use these forums on a regular basis are much more interested in the their hardware than the games. Sure, we all play games to chill in the evening or something as we all need a reason to spend £450 on a new GPU :D, but i think what is highlighted in what others have said already, we are not massive gamers.

I might be wrong, but i thought i should point it out.

These forums have a thriving games section. Plenty of hardcore gamers on OcUK, GD may be the wrong section though.

Done, I don't see why this information you got would be of use about gamers though. Seems more like questions you would ask alcoholics/drug users
