Gamers, What's Your Audio Set Up?

Added a Fosi Audio K7 to my setup today - have only tested on PS5 and via Bluetooth so far (PC & Mac Testing tomorrow!) but impressed so far. Good mic input, plenty of volume headroom even on PS5 (UAC1/2 switch in part of the feature set) and sounded great in FPS gaming and also using APX HD from a couple of Android phones. Tested using Sennheiser HD505 only so far (plus a boom mic!).

I'm using a Soundblaster ZXR and Beyerdynamic MMX300 headset. This combo has been in multiple machines off mine and and probably of the best purchases I've made.

What do you find better/different/worse from the DT990?

Initial impressions, richer and more detailed sound, bass sounds better to me, treble not as harsh, soundstage feels much bigger. I miss the velour ear cushions though :p. The aryas are so big, they don’t fit quite as well as my DT990s. The fit will take some getting used to I think.

First time I tried the Aryas they blew my mind. Incredible headphones. Enjoy!

I'm currently using HD600, Edition XS and K361 through the latest Schiit Lyr+

They're all quite different so I swap between them often for fresh new fun of different types. Had Focal Hadenys and Azurys but sold them as I didn't find them anything special in terms of dynamics (which is what I bought them for). The Azurys was kinda odd, allegedly closed back but leak sound in/out like it's nobody's business. Pretty poor closed back if you ask me.

I am loving my Xduoo amp more and more, actually more than the Headphones itself, so glad they fix that bug where it didn't remember the volume when it starts. The little ring light on the knob is actually a lovely design touch that is useful. Added a Stream Deck to flip between the amp to internal Mac speakers with a press of a button. Added a headphone stand now too so the headphone is off the desk when not in use yet still plugged in, all within the arm's reach.

Just need to get a leather mat now for the keyboard and mouse.

After venturing onto head-fi for the first time in a while, I saw a user talking about using a lower voltage power supply with the k11 r2r to improve the sound quality based on a high level power supply schematic fiio provides. The guy didn't seem to really understand fully how it worked and had made some mistakes in his reading of the schematic however, it did look like a slightly lower voltage would be more optimal than the stock 12v. So I decided to spend a tenner on a 10v supply just to see if there really was any change in sound from running a lower voltage. From A/B testing there seems to be a repeatable noticeable difference, the soundstage is slightly wider. Things that felt up against my ears feel slightly further away. Now there is the chance that this is just placebo but the fact that im hearing some specific change that i can pin point and notice repeatedly makes me feel like its most likely real.

Last of us Part 2 uses 3D spatial audio and on the Triangles horn tweeters, that audio delivers a holographic gaming experience. It's uncanny how sounds are placed with these speakers considering there are only two channels. Such a great gaming experience with them.

I do think Sony's PlayStation first-party games, whether PS5, or PC versions have some of the best spatial audio going. It's rare for them to disappoint.

Sounds decent for music and games :)

I have a denon avr but it's used on my home cinema setup

Move that to the PC system then buy Trinnov and Perlisten 9.4.4 haha for the home cinema :D

Since I now only have PC/streamer source, I guess a Wiim Amp Pro would be capable enough, as it has optical input (for the PC) a built in Wiim streamer, (which I already have elsware and using LMS) it's an amp, and high pass/subwoofer integration. If my desk was small I'd change the AVR...but I have large desk so not a problem

I'll need to eventually upgrade the avr as shock horror it's a 1080p one as I still use a 1080p TV....
