Hey guys, got a long shift (9:30-6:30) with litterally nothing to do. The shift itself might not seem that long but when you think I'm just going to be sat here aimlessly it drags.

I'm looking for some decent games to play on my work pc, 2.2ghz dualcore, 2gb ddr2 800mhz ram, 8400gs onboard graphics.

Obviously minecraft/runescape but I'm kinda bored of both games.

Cheers! :)

I'd check your IT policy first, many companies have policies that prevent you playing games and the like on their machines, and the chance of being able to install and run executables is pretty low, so you're really going to be stuck with web based flash games.
In which case, check out Kongregate, there's a ton on there. I'd especially recommend the gemcraft series if you enjoy Tower Defence games.

I wish I worked in security, currently only getting £5/hr in a bike shop but we currently have nothing that needs building, no repairs, everythings already cleaned and so on. I'm litterally here to hold the fort down whilst the manager has a day off.

I'll look into geting Red alert 2, haven't played C&Q in years.

Edit*
I am the IT force at work apparently, I'm the only person in the shop that has any clue on how to update the website / deal with client emails and so on.
It's a completely standard winxp install.

I would try one of these (if you have access to steam):

Civ 4 (and Alpha Centauri)
Space Rangers 2
Sim City 4
Source engine games
Roller Coaster Tycoon (2)
The Thief Games

I think downloading source games might be a bit of hassle for only a few hours playing once they've finally downloaded.

I'l check out the others, cheers.

You could try Terraria (16MB), or Project Zomboid (53MB), both which could fill your entire shift. If you like puzzle games I recommend trying out SpaceChem (280MB). Frozen Synapse (230MB) is also a great game if you like turn based strategy. Or how about Dungeons of Dredmor (156MB), or The Binding of Isaac (216MB).

alpha centuria is 340Mb. from www.gog.com

+1

Though I guess if the OP has only got a 100kb/s connection (as opposed to a 100kB/s connection) then it will take around 7 hours to download the game :(

Looks like flash games or get a friend to pop over with a memory stick containing a game file.

Edit: A cool little game I have been meaning to try out is "The Wager" a free indy game that looks a bit like Pirates! and is only ~8MB.

Also, if you haven't played it to death already - angry birds on the PC is pretty cool

£5 an hour..?

Is that lower than the standard? I dont know, I have never earned anything that low!:cool:

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll look into them all.

I'm only 19 so minimum wage is £4.92 or something, they just round it up to £5 for the ease of paying me.

No, no you don't security, well at least the work I do consists of watching BBC News for 11 hours a day, the only break from it I get is 1 hour lunch in which I have to sit in the office and play on my phone or iPad, stream iPlayer or something, I can't even leave site.

The type of security I do is not fun at all, it's mundane, probably why I spend all day on here lol

I do get £6.29 an hour though, but currently getting messed about on holidays, only getting paid for 8.47 hours work despite normally working a 12 hour shift lol
