I know this subject could be potential minefeild with the forum rules against competitors websites . After using a certain jersey games company for a number of yrs for all my preorders , they have become rather rubbish at getting games out to on me release day .
The question is , who is the best for price and delivery ?

As i am not interested in anything else but pc games , i hope we can do this without breaking the forum rules.

I know what you mean about the late delivery, they've gone very bad lately even with movies that I used to pre-order arriving 3-4 days after release so I've stopped using them now.

There's only one guaranteed way to get games on release day, and that's to go to the shops yourself.

Never order anything online that you need on a time constraint, most of the time it's fine but sod's law comes into play when it's urgent. ;)

What about their non purple arm?
They always seem to be around £5 cheaper, sure you dont get your reward points but most of the time its cheaper anyway

The problem with going to the shops is , unless you live in the city the smaller towns shops are rubbish for pc games . The shops that may stock the games sell out really quickly and if you work , you are always last to get there.

Preordering works great for me . Sometimes you get the games a couple of days early which is great .

I dont mind digital downloads but they are never cheaper than the boxed copy from a discount etailer.

I find that for games I'm 100% to get and that are available via Steam, it's a real no brainer, I can have the game installed and it will just "unlock" at midnight. :) Great way of doing things, no discs to install, manual updates, compatibility issues, ect ect.
Might annoy people, but I don't mind paying an extra fiver, or about that for a game via steam, it's just ... hassle free.

I very rarely pre order a game without reviews, but with Wrath of the Lich King, I just walked in to my city center for about midnight, and waited and then walked home again, I don't live too far away and it's still the best way to get a big name release.

Only time I've really pre ordered a game from a website, was Doom III Arrived almost a week before it was due out. (was for my dad).

I've used them for years and still seem to get my orders in early, or release day. I think its more my post man is a lazy b****** and doesnt bother delivering, that sunday of no post KILLS ME!

The problem with Steam is that more often than not, it's a lot more than a fiver that it'll cost you. 90% of the time, if a game is £35 on Steam, you'll find it at £25 or less for a boxed version. Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer everything via a digital download, but I'll always take the cheapest option.

I now use Game for all my preorders and collect points at the same time which i'v had a few game for free now they always get the games to me before there out in the shops or on steam had total war 5days before bit silly i know couldn't use it till it was actived on steam but I still like having a Disc

I order through a leeds-based company that tend to ship my orders 2 days in advance and so, most of the time, they arrive the day before release. Very happy :)

Currently using a mix, a large high street company proved useless so far. An out of EU company has been soso. I've currently got 25 copies of Aion preorderd both instore and via delivered means, If Im any short I can pop to the store on release and return the others.

I have no hope that they will all turn up on time, also even less hope that they will see sense and pack em all in one box to prevent the postie from having to howk about 25 individual boxes lol.

Only other thing that could go wrong is I forget to let the bank know and they block my card for so many similar purchases lol

they didnt have any info in store but the site states that those that preordered previous to the offer will also be given them.

It normally works the same in store.
Shame my mate doesnt still work there tho, used to gets all sorts of promo goodies lol

I really do like Steam as a hassle free way of downloading games , but 3rd party games seem to suffer for patch support.
Ask anyone who owns cod waw , steam patches are weeks late sometimes.
Not good if your mates have patched for the new content , maps etc and your left waiting not being able to play .
Also sometimes steam has bad download speeds when everyone wants to download at the same time.
I really like steam but it suffers from its own popularity.
