I'm having problems running games.
I can play STALKER: Call of Pripyat fine, but ARMA 2 with latest patch, will run for a minute, then freeze, desktop comes up, but I can still hear the game running, so ALT+TAB, but can not click the games icon in task bar so have to close it in task manager. It will run fine in windowed mode.

Just installed the Just Cause demo and it's doing exactly the same thing! Also runs fine in windowed mode.
Nothing is over clocked, temps look fine.

My specs are; Q9550, 4GB RAM, 5850 with latest ATI driver, Corsair 530w PSU. Win7 x64. DX11.

Any ideas please?

UPDATE: The Just Cause 2 demo has just crashed like before after a while playing in windowed mode , proceeded with a "display driver has stopped responding" error message.

Thanks. Uninstalled drivers, ran the Just Cause 2 benchmark, froze as before.
Do I need to install older directx? Will try the ASUS gfx driver next.

DOH! Playing ARMA 2 fine for a while but then it crashed same as before. It's weird cause when I get task manager up it says it still running ok.
GRRRRR!!! Just Cause 2 demo crashed at start now:mad:

Finally got round to formatting and reinstalling Win7, tried new and older ATI drivers but problem remains.
Been playing The Hunter, which either runs ok, or will freeze 30 secs into the game, blank screen then recovers, or will then sometimes quit to desktop with the "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered." message.

GPU temps max at 71c, fan max at 30%.

So any ideas please?

Is Arma2 on the latest patch?

Are you overclocking your CPU? If so put it back to stock settings and retest. If it still freezes make sure your CPU heatsink aint blocked with fluff & dust. Try powering down and giving each of your memory sticks a little wiggle to reseat the pins. Still doesn't work, try removing a single memory stick, test, still crashing? replace the stick and remove the other, test again.... May sound daft cos stalker is working fine but Arma2 is a hungry beast that does push your system, maybe enough to take it over the edge.

Thanks. Nothing is overclocked. I'll try what you suggest now.
UPDATE; Seems the crashing only occurs with a certain stick of ram installed. Will run Memtest to make sure.

If the problem is only with Arma2 and other games work fine then maybe have a look on the Arma2 forums and do a bit of searching for others with the same problem as you?

It's all the games I have except for STALKER: CofP. Games seem ok with one of the sticks of ram. The other stick installed on it's own or with the other, games will crash. So will RMA with Crucial.

Thats the problem then. Ram, its the number one suspect. Never rely on memtest though. Real world game and general use tests are the best way to go.
