Games Removed From Steam

So they've made a game for wannabe terrorists to perfect their evil plans? Sounds ludacris to be honest.

The problem is that in GTA you dont have to run over strippers, you can choose to, the main point of the game is to play the story and some other minor stuff.

Having the main feature of a game to simulate a school shooter? Nah, that's too much edge.

In Active Shooter, you could also play as the Police.

I never played GTA so I don't know every single detail about it, but I believe it's an open world game where you can role play anything you want right? I seen role play servers where people play the cops and bad guys.

It's not the main purpose of the game, but the option is there.

Same goes for many other games, games like Skyrim and Fallout where people like to play the evil characters and such.

What about all the WW2 games? Where you could play as one of the Axis powers, again, the list is endless.

And... finally we got the big daddy of them all, Counter Strike where you could play as the Terrorists in many hostage type situations.

whilst i agree this seems to be no big loss, and i totally disagree with the idea of a game based on a school shooter, i have to play devil's advocate here.

games are art, a creative endeavour, and it's not right to remove it just because it's offensive. now valve are a private company so they are entitled to not sell something if they don't want to, but at the same time it's not like there aren't plenty of games out there that don't feature things that are just as shocking, hell even the call of duty franchise has you shooting up an airport.

Have to remember, that Active Shooter and all the other games by that Dev was removed, not because of the contents, but because he was already banned before, so he got banned again for ban evasion.

Also, this is interesting.

Hi This is a bit off topic but I don't want to start a Steam thread about it,

Can someone remind me how to stop Steam putting up random messages while I'm playing games, It's stuff like a DOTA tournament started or so and so are streaming whatever, For some unknown reason I'm being bombarded with useless windows again and after browsing through the settings I can't find what turns them off.

if it's for a specific game then if you right click on it and go to the settings you have the option to disable the steam overlay which will prevent messages as well as the ability to shift+tab

I think if you're talking about notifications related to your friend list and groups this should help -

Thanks but it's just in general not when playing certain games.

I goofed....that was a pre-update solution. Now you have to view your friends list, click the gear and disable notifications there. That only takes care of friend notifications unfortunately, so it seems that if you want to eliminate group notifications too you need to take matters into your own hands. See here and here.
