I was reading something about Call of Pripyat the other day and someone mentioned that they'd enabled the Ultra settings in the graphics options, so I tried to enable them to no avail, but then I found out that you need a DX11 card for the option to show up in the menu...so I was wondering, are there any other games that benefit from having a DX11 card?...and is it, in your opinion, worth it?

Crysis 2.
Metro 2033.
Bad Company 2.

That's off the top of my head, and no I don't think it's worth it until 80% of games require it.

from the sounds of it, not only does it have to be a dx11 gfx card, but also needs to be a fairly high end gfx card to play these games on ultra settings

Cheers for the list, out of those three I've only got BC2, I've seen Metro 2033 for a tenner though, so I might invest if I end up getting a DX11 card.

Well I was thinking of getting a GTX 570, so hopefully that will be powerful enough.

Not really, practically all current graphics cards have DX11.

anyway, add Just Cause 2 and Dirt 2 (and I'm guessing 3 as well) to the list

Dirt 2 and 3 use DirectX 11, JC2 doesn't.

Shogun 2 uses many Dx11 features, look at the Wikipedia page posted by Camarilla, bear in mind that some of those games don't use any feature extensively.

This. Expect only some PC exclusive titles to use DX11 or Consoles developers who have a soft spot for the PC and are willing to put in a little extra work.

It's beneficial to large AAA titles to have direct x 11 simply for the TV and internet advert footage as "joe public" would naturally think its some sort of new film and then read PC INGAME FOOTAGE under it and go out and buy it on their console etc expecting the same lol.

A similar thing was doing with crysis 2 for example, even though at the time it didn't have dx11 implementation. Only problem with direct x 11 is that its a faster version of 10, just with a few new things added in like tesselation (which could be done by hardware on dx8 cards although ATI only). Because dx10 was so damn slow, not many publishers really used it and most users still used dx9 because you couldn't really tell the difference for the massive frame rate hit.

The next direct x version needs to be very quick and bring some really nice new effects to the table which are very noticable and not subtle like dx11 (for the most part)
