Games that drove you nuts and then owned you.

I have to throw Flashback in here. I could kick ass on the hardest level from start to finish, literally only losing the odd shield from the start. So you'd done everything... placed the charge.
"go to the ship my son" or something like that... one problem, where the **** is the hanger in the final level, gah it made me so mad :mad:
 
Deep Space 9 for the MegaDrive. I still have it somewhere....... I think I will have a ceremonial burning of it on the BBQ one day :o :D

I could never beat the wretched game when I had it on Amiga about ten to twelve years ago. So when I loaded up the budget version for the PC that I bought recently I confidently expected to own it.

I got up to about level 93 or so then died, but it was far too frustrating to try again from the beginning at that point.

One day though...one day...
 
Tony Hawks Underground 2, There was this one task where you had to manual down a bit and I couldnt for the life of me do it, I got so angry I traded it in the next day.
 
Good call on the first Dues Ex. Played that as well when I was reasonably young and found it the hardest game ever. Took me months and months to get to that last area, then I gave up.

Loaded it up after playing through Deus Ex 2 and got most of the way through the game in a week and got bored. :(.

One game that did own me though was Doom 3, it drove me nuts by bordem, then owned me :/.

zoop - most enfuriating puzzle game ever. plus its crap
plok on the snes. great game, but well 'ard
rune on the pc - thats pretty hard. massive game as well.
 
that reminds me, i never did finish Dues-ex.... hmm

at the time my PC was crap and it was barely playable which become pretty unaplaybe towards the end, i think there were also errors in my saved games that made me give up. I'd load up a save game to find i cant move from the spot i was stood on, extremely frustrating.
 
System Shock 2 owned me with a really bad save game, although that was more my own fault for overwriting the previous save. That game made me sweat worse than Salvia!

Completed Ninja Gaiden Black on normal and hard difficulty, cant get past the third fight on Very Hard :( . Only game i ever play on the old xbox.
 
Drag mode in Need For Speed Most Wanted. The ones that aren't actually straight, and you can't control the cars properly so its entirely luck on whether you even complete the race, let alone win it.

Plus Pro Evo at times. Somethings it can be such a ******* :mad:
Blissfull when all is ok though :)
 
Wrestlemania 2000 on the N64.. that game caused the death of that particular console. Literally. Career mode doesn't have any retry's.. if you lose a match, you start again. 16 or so matches in, it's me vs HHH for the title. 3 HOURS I battled with him in a cage fight. Finally I pulled off the super move, then climbed the cage but was SO knackered 10mins of button bashing pain and i was still not over the top (had to repeatedly press the button to jump over)

suddenly.. HHH jumps up.. knocks me off the cage.. climbs the wall and hops over with ease, winning the match. Words cannot describe the anger.
 
I don't understand, or maybe I'm just weird, but what about the Civ games, no-one has mentioned them yet, but they have taken, well I blush to think of how many hours I've given them, or LAN TA? 12-14 hour straight battles.....

Nobody else, that's it then - I (and the friends I had as a teenager) were (are) just weird.... Loved every second of it though....
