Games that made you go WOW (graphically)

Ultima Online - at release it was pretty stunning, amazing number of items you can interact with and unlike WoW the world is completely changable..

Medieval: Total War II - this made me grin like a monkey on speed when I saw large battles for the first time, didn't even realise my PC could handle that!
 
There was one game, quite a few years back that was awesome in graphics!! Can't for the life of me remember the name but it had alien craft in it and i think i was flying a jet / harrier (not sure) and then i was on the back of a train firing and also later flying around oil rigs / a big tanker ship. What was the name?!! Fantastic game.

Anyone able to name it?

Monkey Island Amiga/PC

GL Quake.
The first Unreal game.
The first Far Cry Game.
Watching someone play Far Cry 2 and COD4 last year, after being away from PC games for 3 ish years.
 
ID have a history of making me do this.

Doom 3 was, and still is, a fantastic looking game.
Quake 4 also did this to me, when you're in the facility with the EMP - as you look around it just looks breathtaking.

Sounds like Crysis Warhead to me.

My first pc game on my trusty old pentim 2 with a 3dfx card was F-22lightining 3, it blew me away, tremendous detail on the plane and then, unmatched, nuclear explosion. Followed by gunman chronicles on Half life engine, my first fps, was great to look at. A pentium 3 upgrade later, Max payne and Grand prix.


Recent games: Far cry, commandos 2 men of courage, a very underrated game imo was gorgeous, crysis and most newly ones mentioned above
 
I remember that Mechwarrior with the glide patch made me go wow when I got my Orchid Righteous 3D, my first venture into 3d gaming :)

Half Life too...I thought the first bit on the monorail thing was a pre-rendered intro until I accidentally nudged the mouse and saw I could actually move around :p

I also remember being quite taken by the intro to TFX on my A1200...that was pretty awesome too

System Shock 1 here - a later iteration of the Ultima Underworld engine, and they really did some cool and atmospheric stuff with it for the time.
 
Bioshock right at the start when u see water torrenting through a flooded hallway.

Call of Juarez.

The original half life when I figured out how to change the resolution from 200*300 to 1000*700 (ish).

I thought this. Theres a screenshot of the coast and hills i saved on my old computer which also looked almost realistic. I remember being captivated the first time i entered ashenvale forest with my night elf.

Although i no longer play it, WoW is my fav game of all time
 
raw is war on ps1!
resident evil on ps1!
tomb raider in parts on ps1!
sega rally on dreamcast!

dont think theres any pc games what has the wow factor really, always had top end pc whilst pc gaming so not that ive ever struggled to get highest settings either

hmmm i suppose TMN what made me decide to get a gaming pc about 4 years ago and when i got the new system and then maxxed on TMN i was amazed how beautiful it looked

cant think of anything else and ive played all the top games


[edit] o damn how the **** could i forget GRID, that amazed me to point where i abused the screenshot thread :p
