Games with the Worst Voice Acting?

I'm not sure I'd knock Oblivion's voice acting. That was just a slip in assigning the voices. The acting itself was top notch.

The problem for me with Oblivions voice acting was the variety. I got annoyed by constantly hearing the same voices everywhere, I mean, i'm sure Bethesda could have asked fans of the game to chip in or something. Given the current popularity of the mod scene i'm sure this would have brought results and it would have led npc's to be a lot less boring.

Hell, the only good voices in the game were the two big name actors they got in, Patrick Stewart (when is he ever below par?) and Sean Bean (same again).

Good idea, it would have been great to get a few dozen game fans doing voice-over, a simple process that a each submitter is a NPC.

Its a process that was used by Sports Interactive for the Football Manager games. They allowed people to submit photos that would be used on the youth players in the game (I think).

The main idea behind it was to boost sales and although Oblivion sold a shed load of copies, it wouldn't have been a bad idea to boost these with a fan related promotion.

Another vote for resident evil. Although my disk was scratched which meant there was a significant pause between the sentences which made the dramatasism even more amusing!

"what was that sound?............."
"maybe its...... chris" *gasps all round

I played FarCry for the first time a few months back. Carver's voice is awful, and the dialogue is equally poor. Gave up with that game in the end (not just because of the voice acting, but it didn't help things).

I'd have to go with the good old original Resident Evil!!!!

Barrys voice was exceptionally bad.

"Hmmmmm this looks like Chris's blood'

Really barry? you can tell that just by looking at it???

Was going to say that.

When they walks into the mansion at the start ...
Barry - "What iiiis this"
Jill - "Looks like some sort of mansion"

Two Worlds is just awful, well the German release last October was.

Hellgate : London was a let down in the voice acting department.

To all of you saying Oblivion is bad because of 1 character that you have to interact with twice for around 30 seconds, **** off.

Not a PC Game, but Shenmue on the Dreamcast had some of the worst voice acting imaginable. I was very happy when they didn't bother to dub the second one.

Time Crisis too.

"Richard, you have to rescue Rachel, the daughter of the President of Sercia..."

Ahh, Sercia! Of course, I go there all the time for holidays.

Wikipedia said:
The main plot of the original Time Crisis arcade release involves an attempted coup in the fictional republic of Sercia. For a millennium, the Garo family ruled Sercia with an iron fist. In 1995, the VSSE International Intelligence Agency sent William MacPherson, who successfully toppled the Garo regime and became its first democratically elected president.

The last remaining member of the Garo family, Sherudo Garo, sought to recapture the throne from the hands of President MacPherson. He sends a mercenary named Wild Dog and kidnaps the president's daughter, Rachel. Garo demands military secrets in return for Rachel's safe return or he will kill her by sunset. VSSE sends its best agent, Richard Miller (called the One-Man Army) to invade Garo's castle and rescue Rachel.

Gonna have to say Hellgate for this one. Some of the worst cockney accents i've heard since Jamie Oliver opened his trap.

Some of you have to play Starwolves. I dont think its too old now, but I picked it up in one of the high street game shops for reasonably cheap.
Quite a laugh as it is similar in a way to homeworld, except you end up controlling a small squad of fighters instead of huge fleets.

It cracked me up on voice acting though, a Russian game, but whoever translated and did the voices for the original kept me laughing all the way through. It was like one of those films where it was so bad, it was actually amusing.

They released a sequel, Starwolves 2 and I had to get it, just for the bad voice acting, but unfortunately they had found a bunch of Americans to voice the characters this time, which was a shame, as it had gone from being humourously bad to just, well bad.
