I'm just not sure of Edge any more; a 7 for Mass Effect seemed a tad harsh.
I've been a big advocate for games(tm) but again, the 4 they gave Assassin's Creed has me very confused as I'm loving it.

At the end of the day it's one persons opinion so you have to take all reviews with a pinch of salt.
 
Absolutely. I don't always agree with their scores of course. I don't agree with a 10/10 for Half-Life 2. I can't judge on Mass Effect, but from the tiny amount I have played and what I've read, 7 seems the wrong score.

I remember seeing some low reviews for The Darkness, but the same places mark stuff like Call of Juarez higher and it has me absolutely baffled. I saw some reviews of 5/6 out of 10 for The-Darkness which is a real shame as you can't help but feel they are fans of massive hype or something.
One mans pleasure is another mans poison I guess.
 
edge magazine gave halo 3 10 and mass effect 7?

I dont care what there reasons are or where they went to study their degree in journalism, as a gamer, the experience offered by mass effect is far superior.

Yeah people always say they dislike or have lost trust with places that give games they like poor scores. I just read lots of different places and make my own mind up.

Fair play to edge for giving AC a 4 because they are right imho. Every single level is the same and whats there isn't that exciting.

Rich Gallup... Tim Surrette.... Greg K... Carrie and now him? All their video shows are going to go downhill with all these people gone :(

The way he presented the Kane and Lynch video review was pretty harsh.. made it seem far worse than the 6.5 "Fair" they gave the game

There's a rumor going around in some quarters that the initial score was actually lower than 6 but bumped up slightly in an attempt to save face. Eidos was having none of it.

metacritic and gamerankings are the sites i use to evaluate games before I buy them.

After amalgamating more reviews, they can't ALL be wrong... usually!

I have heard way more people claim halo was over rated than mass effect was.

How many people have posted here for example, claiming how lacklustre the multiplayer is. I bet halo 3's numbers have been dented by other games like cod 4.
 
Halo3 will more than likely be the most played game on Live for years, they must have done something right even though I do not like it, but I know plenty who do.
 
Exactly. Halo3 is massively popular online, and will only be more so after Christmas.
Microsoft apparently sold 350,000 Xbox360's last weekend and I'd bet money on at least 33% of those being sold with Halo3 for example.
 
And the exodus continues... Brad Shoemaker has gone this week. That now makes 5 gone within 3 months - Jeff Gerstmann, Ryan Davis, Alex Navarro, Jason Ocampo and Brad Shoemaker. The site ain't the same no more. My membership is cancelled. I hope Jeff and Ryan's Giant Bomb site will be a good one to visit when it launches proper in the summer.
