Gaming as a dad, how much time do you get?

Kids are 8 & 6 so I can usually catch some game time when they go to bed.

I usually play after 8pm for 2 or 3 hours but I can't binge because I'm up for work at 6:30.

I probably play 3 or 4 nights a week but sometimes not at all. My wife doesn't mind, she enjoys watching certain TV shows that I utterly despise so she can watch them in peace whilst I do a spot of gaming

She also understands that gaming is social for me, I have a discord channel with people I talk to on a regular basis.

between 7 and 9 weeknights as he goes bed at 7. Watch TV with the Mrs after 9 for a couple of hours.

weekends I don't game as too much to do around the house.

as he gets older he will go bed later and we will probably have another in a couple of years so that gaming window will get smaller and smaller

But then he will get into the hobby and you get to have some dad and lad time on the old computer gaming box

About 15-20+ hours a week probably, though I generally stay a bit late sometimes.

Son now 9 and I built him a gaming Pc last christmas so we now play together a fair bit, which also gets me more gaming time. :p Cant wait to play Destiny 2 with him.:D

I was kind of joking, he sits at my pc now and moves the mouse around and presses keys on keyboard and he is only 15 months. If he is into it ill build him one but by that time GPUs will be twelvety million pounds

My two are 11 and 9, if I play I usually play from when they go bed (830/9) till my bedtime each night (1130), then Fri/Sat same but I'll stay up late. Only evenings though, day times are for family stuff and/or housework.

Great response everyone. It is hard to go from gaming all day long in your pants to having responsibilities but that is what you have to do when other people rely on you. Hopefully i'll be able to get in 5 - 10 hours a week in which means a single game of Civ will take about 6 months.

Currently more than I probably should.

I'm still waiting for the day I can game with my daughter :p. She's 19 months old now and she can pretty much use the drawing app on the ipad that I downloaded for her, doesn't even need my help navigating the app. I sometimes have her sit on my lap while I'm gaming on the pc but she keeps reaching for the keyboard and even presses buttons. She loves driving with the steering wheel. I set it up to play Euro Truck and she is often wanting to move the wheel side to side, even goes as far to change the gear stick position!

Anything I give to her though I have to be careful I don't have any active accounts or activate some payment verification. I do this after she spend about 20 quid on the Playstation Store... on a free to play game of all things.

At the moment, an hour or 2 a night (normally with the Mrs). We have a 7 year old and an (almost) 2 year old so basically when they've gone to bed however, we have a new baby dropping anytime so things will be up in the air for a while after that.

O_o

When my boy was born i was working late shifts so could get a few hours in each night.

He's now 15 and lives with his mum. I get Steam messages constantly when online and struggle to find time to game. Never should have introduced him to the master race :D

Hi all.
I've been through most of the post above and I'm a dad of 2. My girls are almost grown up being 16 and 17.
I work full time and have just swapped jobs from night shift permanently to a day shift job.
I thought I would have more free time but it feels like less.
Gaming is a couple of free hours at the weekend and online gaming that was hard enough before seems impossible now.
I guess it's the price you pay for being a responsible adult.
I do miss the all night gaming sessions of old with no interruptions or real life pressure.

I could do 20hrs + a week (daughter is 6 so in bed by 8). My wife is pretty independent as I am so we do our own things once my daughter is sleeping.

I don't actually game for that though, usually visit my dad or read a book instead to de-stress.
